Rome Hotels eg Suite Art Navona

Recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We are three couples looking to stay in the Piazza Navona or Campo di Fiore area. We have come across the Suite Art Navona and pantheon Royal Suite. Anyone have advice on these or other suggestions. We are cruising next September and many hotels appear to be booked.

Generally, Italian hotels do not begin booking this early for next September. I'd be very, very surprised if the hotels indicating no availability are actually booked. More likely the hotel has not set its future rates so isn't taking reservations. Direct contact with the hotel will be the first source of very early booking -- before the booking sites like Venere.com.

If you are willing to consider an apartment, you'll find lots of options in the Piazza Navona/Campo di Fiore area. We rented a penthouse apartment via VRBO on via Guilia, abutting the Tiber and about 3 blocks from Campo di Fiore. It slept 6, had 3 bathrooms and 2 rofftop terraces . It was very charming, quite economical compared to booking 3 hotel rooms, and provided lots of space for socializing.

We had booked Residenza Canali, where we had stayed on our previous visit to Rome, but cancelled when we decided to rent an apartment, saving each couple around 80 euro nightly! I do recommend the Residenza Canali if you are only wanting a hotel stay.

We have stayed and will stay again next year at the Hotel Apollo, I understand that they have expanded and added apartments along with the usual rooms. it's in view of the coliseumm and includes a decent rooftop breakfast, has air and a elevator.

Just back from a pre cruise stay in the Campo Di Fiore Hotel. They do have apartments also, but the hotel is nicer, they have a great roof deck and a wonderful breakfast in the breakfast room. Walking distance to Piazza Navonna, Pantheon, electric bus to Trevi and Spanish Steps. Lots of great restaurants around.

Rooms are pretty small though, but you will not be inside that much.
