dickwho Posted November 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2012 Well, in September 2010 I swore that I'd never, ever, do another cruise having just completed a 104 night world cruise on the Dawn. I must be bloody mad , because I've booked passage for a cruise to Japan in March next year on the Sea Princess.

Seems to me you are perfectly sane, you would have been mad not to. :D

bazzaw Posted November 6, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2012 I don't recall what your problem with Dawn Princess was - but I would certainly not do a 104 day cruise on a single ship. We did two back to back 42 day P&O UK cruises to UK and return in late 2010 - with 19 days in the UK in between. I had followed other Aussies who had been doing the long 104 day cruises - and even to follow them on the Internet seemed to me to be interminable. After 6 weeks on a single ship going over to the UK (Oriana), as much as I enjoyed the ship, the cruise, the people, etc , I felt that I had exhausted the ship of anything further that it could offer me as an experience. The 19 day stopover in UK - followed by another 42 days on another ship coming home was perfect for me. Unfortunately, the circumstances of that year 2010, with Oriana commencing her World Cruise in October , instead of the usual January, was a "one-off" and, if what I have heard is correct, will not be repeated. Big shame really, because now the only practical way that Aussies can do a "World cruise" is by sailing on the Sun and Dawn Princesses for the full 104 days. ( even though P&O UK usually has 3 ships each year doing Worldies) Hope you enjoy your cruise to Japan next year -- 42 days?? I know somebody who has recently done this voyage (ex- World cruisers) - and they were very happy with the itinerary up until the ship left Japan for the return leg. They have told me that they would now recommend people fly home from Japan. I WAS interested in that itinerary - but only 12 ports in 42 days is not now my cup of tea:( Barry

Don't spend too much, save some for 2014 LOL. NOW mate, be a good boy and update your signature with your last cruise on Dawn Princess. (I can say that, Dick and I are buddies, heh, heh.) kate59 Posted November 6, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2012 Welcome back Dickwho - I would love to do the 104 nights world cruise but hubby wouldn't be in it. I loved the 46 nights and found heaps to keep me occupied but I do love to socialise when I can.

Hi I can only do 19 days ,that is enough for us ,we love cruising ,and have done 10 cruises. We were on the Rhapsody ,and we always thought we would do a world cruise when we retire ,but not now after we done 19 days.that is long enough. It is hard to explain why .:p:p
NSWP Posted November 8, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 8, 2012 Yes, we did 49 days on Arcadia this year, Sydney to Southampton, that was long enough thankyou. I reckon 3 to 4 weeks is just nice, most of our cruises have been 3 to 4 weeks duration.

We did the 28 days to Tahiti on Pacific Pearl - and it was a great cruise. Very nicely balanced with 14 port days in the 28. Although I was talking to a friend on the weekend who said he did a 32 day cruise in Europe once that had 28 port days -- don't know whether to believe him though :p Barry
