Well that is what is supposed to happen but so far only a LOT of Nina's posts have been deleted from the NCL board.

Ah. Well, again hypothetically, I'd think that if a very public poster violated well-publicized rules (especially those with "there-are-no-exception" trailers) , that CC wouldn't want to risk losing credibility by not enforcing the rules. But hey, what do I know about running a messaging board. I'm really just on here killing time until I can enjoy my $12.95 drink 'o the day in the souvenir cup.

OK, folks, this is off topic, but has been raised....I have two id's. Not because I am trying to be sneaky, but because I couldn't access Cruise Critic on my mom's computer over Christmas. We went to visit her and I couldn't stay away from Cruise Critic in the evening. I couldn't post because my hometown ID isn't valid on her computer. I created a second one. Would there have been a way to be logged on with my first ID on someone else's computer (I think there is, I just don't know how). Also, that is why I have so few postings, only my second name is new - not me)

RE: Celebrity - I prefer Celebrity because 1)they have no annoying announcements over their PA 2)the ships are designed so you never feel crowded 3)the food is excellent 4)the service is excellent 5)the passengers I have met on Celebrity have been just great 6)we enjoy their art work 7)the thalosotherapy pools and spa cuisine are delightful 8)I like the way the staff carries my tray in the lido buffet-its a special service that I haven't seen on other cruise lines.

I just love reading all your opinions on Celebrity. We're going on our first Celebrity cruise in June on the Zenith to Bermuda. We're VERY excited! This will be our third cruise. Our first was Carnival. We thought the food was just ok but the entertainment was great!!! The staff was funny and it was great for kids. Our second cruise, and I have to agree with others on this thread, was on NCL. It was terrible. The staff was rude and was in your way all the time. In the buffet area you had to get out of the staffs way. The food on NCL was good but only in the restaurants that had a cover charge. Enough about NCL. We'll never go back.

Has anyone experienced the Kids Club on the Zenith? Also while in port, what activities do they have on board?

Celebrity has class. The crew treats you with respect but they have a sense of humour. The preople are professionals who have pride in their work.

The people who sail Celebrity have the same qualities. They also respect the crew for the attention that they are getting and generally have a positive outlook toward life and what they are doing.

When 70 year old grandmothers are called up by the ladder guy, get involved with the act and don't mind having a bit of fun poked at them, and can be creative in their own right to give the performer a "hard" time- these are the people I like to associate with.

Oh yes, pretentious. This is one trait that I have NOT found on Celebrity.

HAL also has a great deal of these traits but there is a more reserved nature about the HAL cruisers and staff. I suspect Princess and RCL have many of these traits but from what I see ahdn hear they are not quite as sharp and professional as Celebrity.

Just my two cents (1.4 cents Canadian)

I can't really add a lot to what the previous posters have said. For me there is just something special about Celebrity, that starts when I step onboard. I occasionally sail a different cruise line, but never get that special feeling on any other cruise line. Celebrity makes me feel like they truely want to "exceed my expectations". Their service is second to none, and I feel totally pampered from beginning to end of a cruise.

I like the extra touches that makes one feel special like having your trays carried to the table when dining on the Lido deck. I also think the food is slightly better on the Celebrity than on Carnival.

I could be equally happy on the Saphhire or X. There are pluses and minuses to each. I would look at my budget and see on which ship I could get the best accomodation for my budget.
On this trip the sightseeing and touring is costly, so you do need to budget for those helicopter glacier flights. This is very unlike the caribbean or even Europe where you can have a great cruise spendling little on excursions.

My husband just booked a Celebity cruise on the century for January. After reading this thread I have no doubt that this is a good cruise line. My only concern is we will be bringing our 2 boys 7 and 11 with us. Can anyone tell me anything about the kids programs on the Celebrity compaired to say Royal Caribbean? We just took our first Cruise on Royal Caribbean in May and my boys loved the kids program. We could not get them out of it. I'm just wondering if Celebrity will give them the same experience if not better. Any import would be appreciated. Thank you

Sherry

How in the world did I miss this thread?

Why do I like Celebrity?...everyone on this thread has said alot of things that I agree with...but I also like it because whenever I sail, the crew always makes ME feel very special. I sail solo and everyone is so warm and welcoming. Always a smile or a good morning!
When I sailed on Century in January and was on deck 4 after boarding....well, it was like "coming home again". The feeling itself is very hard to put into words. But all of the staff and crew came across as truely enjoying working on this ship...and it was really sincere.
Now, I have only been on one other cruiseline recently which was a 3nighter on Soveriegn of The Seas, and that is like comparing apples to oranges, or as some have said "A Cadillac to a Kia" .
But after 3 times on Celebrity...and going on my 4th in September , this is my cruiseline of choice!

Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda!

Sherry,
My DS (age 11) just loved the programs on the Connie. He had dinner every night (except formal night when he actually got dressed up and ate with us). In fact, we joked that he had a better social life than we did. They have terrific programs for kids.

My son spent every night with the kids club program (he went on excursions with us during the day). We went during spring break when there were 400 kids on board, 100 of them just in his age group.

But it didn't feel that crowded with kids. They did their thing, we did ours. My son loved to feel independent.

But I'm not sure how many kids will be on board in January. Most kids are in school then unless you are going on some type of break.

Well, everyone else pretty much covered it all, but I really like the glass of champagne when I board the ship. I like the pastries in the coffee shop, I really enjoy tea time. The sushi bar is fabulous. The entertainment is top notch....
We have sailed on several Celebrity ships and have run into crew from previous cruises. Some have actually recognized us and sought us out. It's amazing to me that, after seeing so many people week after week that they would remember us.
The only thing I dislike is the lotion (not a big deal, just bring my own) and the beds are horrible. We just got off the Mercury and there just was no comfortable spot on that mattress. Those are minor details though. The overall cruise experience is great! No compliants.

I have to agree with ALL the nice things people have said so far about Celebrity.

The BEST thing, is how they handle a BAD situation. When our Infinity Hawaii cruise was cancelled two weeks before sailing, we not only got all our money back, we got a free cruise on the Millennium! Now that is a great company.

OK, I agree with all these wonderful things being said. For me it is the service, service and service! You are always treated like an honored guest by every member of the staff. No question or problem is unimportant; they will go out of their way to exeed your expectations!

We found the NCL staff rude until tip night which infuriated me. Our waiter and assistant on Carnival were very nice, but had more tables than they could handle. We never found our cabin steward on Carnival even though we had major problems and the service desk just didn't care.

We love the people on Celebrity, staff and fellow cruisers! I always hope to see some old friends on staff, I am ready to be spoiled!

14 days to Zenith and pink sand!

I have to agree with most of the above posters. The service on Celebrity is outstanding. We just came back from our first RCCL cruise on Adventure of the Seas. We had a wonderful time, the ship was beautiful, great itinerary. If it were my first cruise, i would have thought the service was great, but having been on five Celebrity cruises it couldn't compare. So this was just for a change to compare and it's definitley back to Celebrity. We enjoy the quiet bars, the no announcements and the feeling that you are really special for that wee, 10 days or whatever.

We did the Infinity in Alaska about three years ago and it was great! Princess has a great product, also with much experience and more years in Alaska (especially cruisetours and their own special lodging). I lean towards Celebrity with a very close second to Princess. The other thing, that may influence you and sometimes does it for us---the age of the boat. The Sapphire is brand new, that being said the Infinity is kept looking that way, also.

I have to add my bit.

Being a multiple times cruiser on Celebrity, and also having done Princess, NCL, RCI, and the former Royal Cruise Lines, I far and above prefer Celebrity!

Let's just say they have that certain "Je ne sais qua." The above postings have covered the distinctions.

For us, we like the quietude of the ships' environment affording plenty of rest & relaxation (which my partner & I both need from our high stress jobs); the cosmopolitan staff and passengers are always a delight; the food is outstanding in so many respects; and every Celebrity ship we've sailed on has had that same wonderful feeling.

Now, if there were just some "perfect squelch" to silence obnoxious dolts who spend their first two days on a cruise running down Celebrity as not up to their personal standards. Though, they are a source of amusement in their ignorant bravado. I even heard one man once say Celebrity wasn't any better than a freighter cruise. Ea gads!

I believe it was a letter writer in Cruise Travel magazine who put it best, "Celebrity offers Crystal-type quality and service without paying for the white doilies."

Keep up the good work Celebrity. We ALL love you!!!
