our cruise arrives at freemantle at 6 AM but my plane doesnt leave until 11 PM. the cruise line has already stated they will not store my luggage.

does anyone know if i can store my luggage close to where the ship docks, spend the day in freemantle/perth sightseeing, then pickup my luggage & head to the airport.

thanks

Best bet might be to store your luggage at the airport, and then do your sightseeing from there. Perth Airport is not all that far from Perth City, although if you also want to explore Freo you would need to backtrack.

Have a look here: http://www.baggagestorage.com.au/

Cost would be A$10-A$12 per item which is not bad. They are open 24 hours and have a site at both Domestic terminals as well as the International terminal.

cheers

Got a reply from Transperth: Thank you for your enquiry, and I apologise for the delay in replying to you. Transperth does not provide a left luggage service, however, a Locker Hire service is provided at the Citiplace Rest Centre, which is located in the Perth Station Upper Concourse. For further information on this service, I would advise that you call the Citiplace Rest Centre on (08) 9461 3554.

I have attached a link for Citiplace for you - it has an info email line for you to contact as well: http://www.cityofperth.wa.gov.au/getfile/20334.pdf When you open it up - scroll down and it has directions as well.

Hope this helps - and hope it helps other visitors to Perth re luggage storage.

(I can't help poking around - and if it's a benefit to others - result)

My wife and I had the same issue arriving at 7:00 AM on the Celebrity Solstice. We are BIG history buffs and wanted to see the 2 great Maritime museums in Freemantle. The Ship Museum is only about 1/3 mile from where the cruise ships tie up. The terminal greeter staff is friendly, but do not know anything about cab fares, eateries, or how to do stuff. Just head OUT of the cruise ship terminal and get a cab or walk to the big W.A. Maritime Museum shaped like a sail at the end of the quay. The staff there is super friendly. We were going to prevail on them to watch our luggage, but guess what. They have a large bank of HUGE LUGGAGE STORAGE LOCKERS behind the reception area. They can handle just about any bag. You put in a $2 Aussie coin (which they will supply you at the desk if needed) and your luggage is locked and safe for the day. And, get this! You get your $2 back when you key the lock open. FREE STORAGE at an awesome museum. Spend the morning here and then head over to the Shipwreck Galleries. Do not miss Cicerellos for Fish & Chips lunch. Spend a nice day exploring Freo and then pick up your luggage and take the train up to Perth for about $4 each

Thanks AirAbel - we are doing the same cruise in 2014, so I took the liberty of 'quoting' your post on our Roll Call.

The museum sounds like something we would like to see too.

Thanks for that info AirAbel

We are dinky di Sandgropers and I feel embarrassed that the City of Fremantle do not provide storage in a public area, or at the Port for tourists. What a find by you - much appreciated.
