Oopps... Should have read the post above! :D

Lol at you :)

It's not funny I've booked for 2 weeks going in march, the cabins have got tea making facilities but where do you get the water from???

As you pay for bottled water on all thomson cruises!

We did notice a bit of a smell in the corridors when we boarded in Barbados last winter, but it seemed to go when we left port

As I said before I wondered if it was from the carpets, but new carpets should have cured that.

I'm not changing my cruise again :rolleyes:

No I wouldn't Linda - you'll have a great time! ;) Someone else's negative comments may not be an issue for you at all or not something you come across whilst you're on board.

I think there is sometimes a smell when in port if they have to transfer some waste which they can't or haven't disposed of at sea. I could be completely wrong in that assumption - but it seems to me that these aromas are transient and correspond to being in port - not every day of course!

Doing Caribbean Treasures and Latin Gems - really looking forward to it now. Have been watching and deliberating (and hoping prices would come down a bit more) - but hey! couldn't wait forever so we've taken the plunge! As you will imagine I'll be casting a critical eye over the refurb (hopefully we'll be very impressed!) but at least we should be able to make a cuppa in the morning so that will be a plus - especially for you!!!!! :D:D:D I'll report back - of course! ;)

I am so pleased for you, Kruzseeka :)

Looking forward to reading your review of the platinum upgrade.

Hope you have a lovely time.

When are you going?

There are ice machines at various steward stations around the ship, they have drinking water. ;)

Thank you for that, the last time we went on the Dream the cabin steward told us not to drink from taps.

Not this again! Are you sure he wasn't just trying to get you to buy the water in your room? The tap water is perfectly safe to drink.

Another review over on cruisedot saying that they don't know where the money has been spent. This was always my concern,.Thomson made a big deal out of something that happens on every cruise line every few years - i.e. The ship gets new carpets curtains etc. It has raised people's.expectations when really they are just doing what they should be to keep the ship.up to date and fit for purpose.

We used tap water to fill the kettle on Celebrity Eclipse, but of course that is a newer ship. I assume you can use tap water on the Dream, but a bit hesitant because of previous plumbing problems

But as solostar says if there is a kettle supplied, you should have potable water supplied :)

Hi Kruzseeka are you on from 6th to 20th? :D:D

No sadly we're not - otherwise we could have said hello and perhaps had a New Year toast! You will be back a week before we go so please make sure you do a review when you get back - I'll be looking out for it and hanging on every word!!! :D

Yu will be in a position to draw comparisons of the 'before' and 'after' too so that will be especially interesting. Nearly ended up on the same cruise again - pethaps next time ;)

Have a wonderful trip - not long now! :)

Hi Gareth

Have you just come from the Dream?

Bob :)

Yes - and to answer the other question - I understand the water comes from the drinking water points that can be accessed by the stewards from where they get the ice for those asking for ice in their cabins. They actually fill the jugs in the cabin using a bottle that looks like bottled water but I think they just use these bottles for convenience and refill them from drinking water taps. To be honest I never asked so there is a remote chance they actually use bottled water too.

As for health issues - there should be none as you are boiling it anyway.

The water in the Lido and Sirens from the machines will be the same water as that used in the jugs for the kettles and the same water your tea and coffee is made from whether from the bar or from the restaurant.

The main group was Top Men, there was the usual pianist Keith in the Delo, Elegant Touch in Ocean Bar, Ge'za Duo in Argo (violinist and piano) and then Island Wonder arrived as a steel drum and female vocalist.

Cruise Director Paul Fisher did sing with show team on a couple of shows too. ACD is Brett Paddock and is in the Medusa most nights.

Entertainment hosts are Adam, Amy and Julius.

As for the show team itself - I will not put their full names on here but they fully comprised :-

Ladies :- Kate F (dance captain), Corea M (vocal captain),Ali B, Jade S, Sarah N.

Men :- Ross M, Rob H, Darren E, Darren S and Reiss.

Thanks very much for that info, I noticed you went in September on the dream as well, was there much improved as the refit done in November?

I've booked cabin 1001 on deck 10 hope it's been updated from last year as the bathroom was in a bit of a mess mouldy tiles on floor and around bath.

:o

I posted this on another thread and this is a brief summary - can not comment on the inside of your proposed cabin as I have walked past it but never been in it.

"There are some nice new carpets in the cabins and the tvs are flat screen throughout the ship now. Reupholstered furniture in the cabins and new curtains. Kettle and cups and saucers provided in the cabin along with long life milk and a selection of teas and coffee.

Medusa - big change is all furniture reupholstered. The lights that were in the middle of the seating area and were blocking the view of the stage have been removed. All new carpets. The pillars are now silver ( I think they were gold before but don't quote me).

Sirens outside deck grill - has the ice cream machine like the Lido internal one but both are more like sorbet than ice cream to me. More ice than cream.

The Grill is now on the starboard side of the ship not the port side. Some new furniture in the Grill. The piano at the entrance to Sirens has vanished.

Lido deck /Deck 9 area has less sunbeds and now has a large covered canopy area that has about 15 to 20 tables and chairs instead.

Lido Grill has extra serving points and also an outside serving point in addition to the outside burger etc area.

This loss of sunbeds is very partly compensated by a few extra by the Jacuzzi on Deck 11.

New carpets throughout the ship public areas with a few notable exceptions - eg Oceans Bar area -and other areas. The stained area of carpet by the water feature on the wall as you leave Oceans is still there which is a pity when all that money has been spent.

There is going to be added some sofa type furniture under deck 10 on Deck 9 and this was due during the xmas cruise.

Many areas basically unaltered eg Broadway, library, card room, casino etc etc and sadly the corking on deck 12 and that on deck 9 that is missing still remains so.

Hope that helps - it is not an exhaustive list but covers some/most of the main points. ( alot of work has been done to the ship below the waterline to make it more economical ie removal of barnacles etc )
