Sargent_Schultz Posted January 9, 2013 Author #277 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Since you take alot of photos and have looked thru many lenses how does the Quality of these appear to you?? Honestly I haven't tried them for anything other than trying to focus on something in the stateroom. I own several pair of binoculars, including at least a couple that are similar sized, and all are superior. Only one was the same price, and it took many years of labor for an employer to gift them to me. I don't have any IS binoculars, so all are inferior to most of my lenses. Some time ago I stopped taking binoculars on cruises for that reason, but I will consider purchasing IS binoculars if/when (since not booked) we do Alaska again. Hopefully in 2014. I'm not even sure where the Carnival ones are, right now. But then, not sure where my others are, either. I suspect none are together.

Sargent_Schultz Posted January 9, 2013 Author #280 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Rewind to the Punchliner Brunch - forgot the punchiner part. On the hour there is some "entertainment" that lasts for a few minutes. It starts with a taped announcement by George Lopez, then an introduction by the manager of the comedy club and then a few minutes by a comedian (alleged). Actually yes, they are comedians, but a brightly lit dining room, in the morning hours, is not the best venue. Of the two comedians I listened to, one didn't rate a chuckle and the second actually earned a few laughs. If you go to the regular shows, they are better and the second was sometimes hysterical. the manager a comedian

Sargent_Schultz Posted January 9, 2013 Author #283 Share Posted January 9, 2013 There was something else that I forgot to post, but I forgot again. :p On with the show. The weather didn't always cooperate on this cruise - there were sprinkles now and then for the first few days, but no matter. The bars were open :)
Sargent_Schultz Posted January 9, 2013 Author #284 Share Posted January 9, 2013 I perhaps should have gone back to the Punchliner Brunch to try more food, but just wasn't starving. I wonder why? Anyway checked out the breakfast buffet on Lido Looks like the more popular cereals were the ones with the most sugar I guess to offset the milk

Sargent_Schultz Posted January 9, 2013 Author #287 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Even peanut butter I settled for something that I thought was sufficiently balanced between healthy and not. and grabbed a seat near the aft pool (roof closed)

crusinpsychRN Posted January 9, 2013 #289 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Punchliner seems silly to me. Just add the menu to regular menu and hours since people seem to like that. Eggs benedict on the Lido, nice!
Sargent_Schultz Posted January 9, 2013 Author #290 Share Posted January 9, 2013 They would post weather satellite photos I guess to let us know there was no hurricane, anywhere. I suppose some kids might be interested in the video arcade. Maybe some adults. Get 'em hooked early for the real bandit in the casino

Eggs benedict on the Lido, nice! I think just about anything I would get off of the regular breakfast menu was available at Punchliner. The hours are fine with me. If not a port day, I don't, and don't think most people venture out too early - I know some do.

Rowan555 Posted January 9, 2013 #294 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Do you recall the names of the good and bad comedians? It would be nice to know who to look out for, and who to avoid, if they happen to be on my upcoming cruise! With so much going on each night, we hate waiting for an hour at night to see a comedian, only for him/her to be dreadfully unfunny!
Sargent_Schultz Posted January 9, 2013 Author #295 Share Posted January 9, 2013 It's all subjective. I'll say I liked Carl Faulkenberry and think I'll leave it at that. They all do multiple shows and even repeat some shows.

kwbound Posted January 10, 2013 #300 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Thank you. Guess I'll jump around to make sure to get to the Taste Bar. Deanie's Deanie's Deanie's Great review as usual! We are planning on having dinner at Deanie's next month the night before our cruise. Based on one of your previous reviews we tried to go to Deanie's last year, but I had too many hurricanes at Pat O'Brien's beforehand and couldn't find the address/directions that I had in my purse so we wound up somewhere else.:o I'm thinking that seafood platter would be enough for 2 or 3 people to share, especially if you started with a salad or some gumbo. What do you think? Does Deanie's have any broiled seafood, or is their menu mostly fried? Have you tried their bread pudding and if so, how was that? Thanks for taking the time to post all of the pictures and do such a thorough review. You are really helpful to so many people. Donna
