mermamasailsagain Posted January 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2013 We'll head out on our third HAL cruise this week but noted an earlier thread discussing tiles and Mariner lunches. I never considered our cruises on other ships to add to our Mariner points... maybe we can become Mariner 2 level faster than we thought. Can we add in Princess days aboard and if so, how far back will they go to add the points? Thanks!

The only thing other Carnival Cruise line cruises are good for is to get you to the Embarkation lunch on the first day in the dining room as a one star. Your days on the other lines don't count for HAL, nor do your HAL days count for Princess, etc. Would be nice, but not so.
hrhdhd Posted January 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2013 No. Sailing on another line prior to any HAL cruises gives you a "no star" Mariner status and you can be invited to the Mariners' brunch. All days to earn stars, whether for sailing or spending, need to be earned on HAL.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2013 Only days you sail on HAL will get you the points. If you book a Suite -- you get double points. For every $300 you spend you get a point. The Casino does not count. Anything yoou prebook like speciality restaurants and excursions all count towards a point. If you are upgraded from a regular cabin to a Suite by HAL -- no extra points. Sorry -- but any cruises you have done on Princess, Cunard, Carnival, Costa and Seabourn -- those days will not count for HAL points.
George C Posted January 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2013 It would nice if they did what RCCL does if you are diamond level you will be same level on Celeberity. But as just said points add up quick if you book the suites.

You can only earn one bonus spending day for each day of your cruise. For a seven day cruise, spend $2,100 and earn seven days..... maximum. Shirleywirly Posted January 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2013 Hello to all Just to say that I haven't cruised on HAL yet but because I've had 1 cruise on Carnival I'm now a 1 star mariner for my up and coming South American cruise. Yipeeeee. I think this only gets me in the dining room on embarkation day so nothing great. Anything else I should know about? We sail on the 20th February and have booked a guarantee and so could get our stateroom allocation on the day. Not sure if I'd get an upgrade being a 1* mariner as I get the impression that they give them to first time HAL cruisers. Do you think they'll know it's my first time on HAL? Fingers crossed for the upgrade fairy to pay a visit. I know I live in a dreamworld but it's the best place to live! Shirley :D
sail7seas Posted January 22, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2013 Being a one star mariner will be no 'weight' as to getting an upgrade though some here have noted the new comers to HAL sometimes get upgrades ahead of long term, loyal HAL cruisers. Maybe they want to 'hook you. :) <snip> Do you think they'll know it's my first time on HAL? Fingers crossed for the upgrade fairy to pay a visit.<snip> Yes, of course, they will know it is your first time cruising HAL. It's the computer age!!! :D Being a Mariner from having sailed on any of the Carnival Family of ships earns you a chance to have Mariner Embarkation Lunch in MDR if you wish. You will also be invited to Mariners Brunch on a sea day during your cruise. You will be given a collective HAL delft tile at the Brunch. DH and I have collected so many we recently had our contractor space some of the tiles amongst a design we made for our new tile shower. They look fabulous IMO :)
