Wife and I are lookinbg to have lunch somewhere in St. Martin while in port. We want to stay away from touristy places (Senor Frogs, Martgaritaville, etc...) if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for some good local food?

There are the BBQ shacks called LOLO's in Grand Case. Five in one place on restaurant row nestled in between all of the gourmet restaurants.

Not sure what the term "authentic" means. The island is a foodie heaven with restaurants in many categories and price ranges. IMHO they are all authentic! The LoLo's located in Grand Case are certainly cheap, but they are merely barbeque joints where they cook the usual ribs, chicken, etc. Nearby, also in Grand Case, there are a group of world-class French restaurants...but only a few are open at lunch. In Phillipsburg you can buy just about any kind of food although arguably the quality of the restaurants does not rise to the level found in Grand Case. There are actually a couple of decent places on the popular Orient Beach and there are other decent beach food options at places like Baie Rouge and Friars Bay. On the island you can get decent French, Italian, Chinese, fast food, seafood, etc. All of the food is authentic!
