Disembarkation luggage in Fort Lauderdale

Has anyone left luggage on the dock for an hour or more?

We'll probably be kicked off the ship by about 9:30 a.m. and, if it's a nice day, we'd like to just walk around the docks and look at the ships for an hour or so before going on to our next stop. Does anyone know how long the luggage is considered properly left there rather than possibly abandoned?

Kesstral is correct, you'll not be able to leave the terminal building without your luggage. Now, possibly you might convince a longshoreman to watch your bags for you if you "incentivize" him, if that's even legal for them to do. Beyond that, I'm not aware of any luggage drops in the area for your purposes.

No matter what port we have been at -- Ft Lauderdale, San Diego, Seattle -- once off the ship you are directed to the area to claim your luggage. Then you get in the lines to go through immigration and customs.

You are not permitted back into the building.

And there is no where outside the cruise terminal to store your luggage while you look around.

In Ft Lauderdale there really isn't much to see in the port area as much of it is cargo where you can not enter.
