Cheers program

Say what you will but its not just a "judgement", its a "medical judgement" , based on facts (unliike many of the views expressed here) and it is a judgement that I am qualified to make. Ask any licensed physiican and they would tell you the same.

Medical judgement?? Really?? I think you are judging people you do not know. We will be utilizing the Cheers Program and enjoying our cruise! Facts are....we are going to have a blast on our upcoming cruise with our family! I do not care if you want to judge....knock yourself out!!

While we are all sure that you must be a fabulous doctor and you've done a great deal of research regarding exactly how many Funship Specials will render our livers useless and potentially knock us over dead, I have to say you sound like the most un-fun travel companion, like, EVER.

you do not need to get 15 drinks in order to make it a good deal, the math has already been done, 6 drinks across the day and you are saving money,

bloody mary or mamossa in the morning

a frozen drink at bingo or trivia

a frozen drink by the pool

a beer or two with lunch

a pre dinner cocktail

take a drink into the dinning room for dinner

a beer or two at the evening show

looks like a deal to me and not enough to get drunk by any means.

That is my point! Enjoying your vacation!! Judgement free!!

I disagree. I just found out I'm a raging alcoholic and by my calculation, I'm sure it's still a good deal. Because I can mix my liquors throughout the day, have them made for me without going back to the room, and get top shelf stuff. That 60 dollar bottle won't taste like my morning Bloody Mary with Grey Goose, I promise you that. Plus, it takes so much effort, and you know how lazy us alcoholics can be...and then I still have to pay for mixers

Now if you'll excuse me I have a meeting to make in a couple hours, time to down a few on the way since I'm feeling the DTs kicking in

;)

LMAO!! I was going to make a sarcastic post similar to this but you beat me to the punch!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only alcoholic that comes to CC to hear what bad choices we're making :) I'm looking to have a great time and save some money and that's exactly what the Cheers program does, regardless of 5-15 drinks, depending on what you're ordering. Besides, I can guarantee I drink more on an LSU game day in a short amount of time than I will the entire day on a cruise ship!

Oh, a medical judgment... why don't you share your opinions with the people you clean bathrooms with and not us.

How do you find the time to post on CC seeing as though you are a hepatologist, psychiatrist, AND an accountant?

I found the program worthwhile on my last Pride cruise. It was a little under $700 for the week and we totaled our drink receipts to about $1250 so we saved money. I liked it more for convenience sake more than anything. We also tried some drinks we not have otherwise tried. Enjoy!

I must be a total lush. Just got off the Freedom on Sunday and LOVED having the Cheers program. I rarely drink at home but love drinking on my cruises.

Over the 8 night cruise, I drank 90 drinks with receipts totaling over $726. I spent just over $395 on the package so I saved over $330. Granted, without the package I wouldn't have drank so much but only because of the cost. And only one night did I meet the 15 drink limit and because I had been drinking throughout the day I didn't even get drunk. I think my BFF about broke even, she didn't add it up.

Go, drink & be merry! :p

I never post (as you can see by the date I had joined and the # of posts since), although I have cruised approx. 20 times. However, in this case....oh yeah, it's time.

1) Everyone is entitled to spelling/grammatical errors, as long as they are "qualified" as NOT being a poster who just posts to pre-judge and bash others. It is a program that is offered for those who think he/she can benefit from it. If you don't want it, don't participate.

2) Would you have a different opinion if I chose the program b/c I just returned from my 3rd tour in Iraq and figured I deserved AND could handle had 15 beers between 2pm-midnight?

3) See #1 - It appears that you are not qualified since "its" should have been "it's", "unliike" should've been "unlike", "physiciican" should've been "physician" - oh no but you are 'qualified'. What exactly are you qualified to do?

4) Forrre! (had to use the number for something) In golf that means duck b/c a flying object may be headed your way.

5) I bet you ducked after reading #4

6) When I down my 15th Budweiser of the day on my cruise in April, I will NOT be thinking of you....I will be thinking "next time I order I will have to pay for it and will be happy to do so since the United States is based on CHOICES and FREEDOM".

6) Do you really want me to add another? LOL

See you at the meeting but I might be late since they scheduled it during happy hour

Oh, cool, you're a doctor. How many servings of alcohol per hour is the average human body capable of metabolizing without even reaching the legal limit for driving a car? Considering that a person in this situation is, um, ON VACATION, how many hours in the day are they free to drink alcohol?

:math:

Btw, I pulled a hamstring at the gym yesterday. Could you give me some treatment advice? Since you're already handing out "medical judgements" without even seeing the patient in clinic first (hope you don't accept medicare, they're gonna be pretty upset about that)

My husband and I are planning to take advantage of the Cheers Program on the Pride in April. It takes about 6-7 drinks to break even. Mu hubby likes his beer. I like a couple frozen drinks by the pool during the day. We have late dining and enjoy a glass of wine while getting ready for dinner. Then a glass or two at dinner. Right there I should break even! Then bring on a show or comedian and I make out in the deal. Not an alcoholic....just enjoying my vacation!! The last cruise we went on we spent more than what this package will cost. So hopefully they keep it on the Pride in April!

Plus we have the advantage of knowing exactly what the bar bill is going to be. I like it. I'll probably break even, SO will definitely be ahead on this one.

Thanks, Vicky! We're getting on the Freedom this Saturday, i've finally decided to go with the Cheers program for me, my DH and my DSS (dear step-son?!?) who's 26 and i know will be able to get his money's worth. It's going to be expensive for 3 of us on an 8 day cruise, but i'm convinced it would be a whole lot more if i didn't do it. And, your summary above convinced me that my theory is right!!

I just want to be able to relax and not worry about it all week. It'll already be paid for, whether we meet the max drinks or not i think it'll be pretty easy to at least break even every day.

Have a great time! The casino bar was my favorite place to drink. Lots of fun and excitement going on around that one. Hopefully the nightclub will be more active for you. In any case, just enjoy yourselves! I found the service on this ship to be better than any of my other cruises. Loved the bartenders, dining staff and cabin stewards!

After having worked in occupational medicine, being the son of a physician, a godson to a physician and a nurse, a brother to a physician, a brother-in-law to a nurse, I will actually go by their opinions and not one who judges others based upon your ability to use Google.
