NEVER EVER EVER Celebrity transfer from MIA

I'm currently sitting on a bus which is slowly making its way through the ghettos of south Florida.

The bus driver thought we needed to leave Miami International Airport and go to Fort Lauderdale ship terminal, we needed to be at the MIAMI PORT.

Massive backup on 95 prevented a quick correction of this mistake, so we're here fuming. The cab is so quick (and cheaper) compared to bus transfers...makes me wonder why anyone would do it.

Wonder how Celebrity is going to handle this.

We learned the same thing in San Juan. Only difference was we never did get on the bus even though we'd paid for it! The line after we claimed our baggage was so long and it was going to be another 30 minute wait for the bus, so we decided to "punt" and get a cab. We were sitting on our balcony drinking champagne watching the people we were standing at the airport with board the ship - a good hour+ later!

Take a deep breath! You'll be there soon and then you too can be drinking a glass of champagne and really relaxing!

Sorry to hear of the issues. We've had family members use Celebrity transfers on many occasions, and their reviews were excellent.

Unfortunately, stuff happens. As 4 hours have past since their first post, I hope the OP will check in with us, and has made it to the ship in time.

Unfortunately we learned the hard way X transfers were not to be trusted. We were picked up from Port Everglades to be taken to the Hilton Miami airport for day room use until our flight home. The bus driver didn't have a clue where he was going and after eventually getting lost in some industrial estate in a not too nice suburb the passengers took the situation in to our own hands and called a cab driver to escort the bus to the hotel! At our own expense. We arrived there 2 1/2 hours after leaving the port!

Now I am afraid we avoid the transfers at all cost and enjoy seamless transfers to and from Miami airport by limo service. The price differential is negligible.

X loss is the limo company's gain.

Docked in New York and requested early transfer to airport. We were given this and had no problem collecting luggage and being directed to transfer bus. Then we sat there for well over two hours for other passengers, who were being transferred to a day hotel to arrive. Even the driver was extremely annoyed and actually finally left before all the passengers on his list arrived as he had another job to do. Thankfully he took us to the airport first - even passing the hotel - as we were now to the point of missing our flight.

Never again!

Definitely frustrating. The buses are contracted and the drivers will work for all the lines so the driver must have gotten the wrong message. Oh well -- you probably wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to see the ghettos of South Florida up close without being in serious danger. I hope you enjoyed your cocktail and cruise!

Many of us have posted for many years about the ease of simply doing your own transfers. Not only do the cruise lines usually charge more money then a taxi, but you are at the mercy of a large group (they will wait until the bus is full). For transfers between Ft Lauderdale and Miami there are also several inexpensive transfer companies online that use smaller vans.
