Getting off the ship in one port and getting back on in another

Has anyone ever done this. We are thinking of doing it, Princess has given us the go ahead but just a little nervous about doing it.

Have done this twice, once in Egypt and the other in Israel. Both were overnighters on Princess tours. Is a bit more risky on your own, but doable.

If you're doing this independently of the cruise line, make sure you have contingency plans in place for "just in case." Even the most reliable ports are sometimes missed and you have no control over that.

Our next port is 6 days away so may have to rethink the port.

You must pre-arrange with Princess for overnights if you are not on their tours. Just call the 800 number and they can do it over the phone. That way they know that you are off the ship with it sails and will not be calling your name and there is no problem re-boarding at the next port.

We did an independent tour in Egypt. We left the ship in Port Said, spent the night in Cairo and rejoined the ship in Alexandria. It worked well for us but of course the ship made it into port in Alexandria.
