TraceyB Posted February 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2013 Has anyone ever done this. We are thinking of doing it, Princess has given us the go ahead but just a little nervous about doing it.
HJH Posted February 28, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2013 Have done this twice, once in Egypt and the other in Israel. Both were overnighters on Princess tours. Is a bit more risky on your own, but doable.
Pam in CA Posted February 28, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2013 If you're doing this independently of the cruise line, make sure you have contingency plans in place for "just in case." Even the most reliable ports are sometimes missed and you have no control over that.
TraceyB Posted February 28, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted February 28, 2013 HJH, That is true never really thought about that. Our next port is 6 days away so may have to rethink the port. Thanks so much. Tracey

Thanks so much. Tracey You must pre-arrange with Princess for overnights if you are not on their tours. Just call the 800 number and they can do it over the phone. That way they know that you are off the ship with it sails and will not be calling your name and there is no problem re-boarding at the next port. katisdale Posted February 28, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2013 We did an independent tour in Egypt. We left the ship in Port Said, spent the night in Cairo and rejoined the ship in Alexandria. It worked well for us but of course the ship made it into port in Alexandria.
