Dolphin Deck

Hi can any one tell me what is the white area on the deck plans Dolphin deck, at the back of the ship on the Volendam

That is where the ropes for securing the ship at the docks. Machinery is back there.

Just a crew area -- not for passengers.

Oh Ok, what about the white area at the back of the ship near the cabins, my room is above the area and i was wondering if there would be any noise from it. :confused:

I think it is an A/C Plant Room. My cabin wasn't in that area so I don't know if noise will be a problem.

One the Rotterdam, there was quite a bit of noise from that Dolphin deck working area when we exited the aft Main deck doors and went out to the back open deck - but it was not noticeable when we were inside the ship from inside the Main Deck - seems to be good interior sound insulation.

 

But this is a noisy end of the ship on these lower decks. Some of it comes from the roar of the ocean as well. We loved the deck chairs on the aft deck 3 - Lower Promenade - our secret "aft deck cabin". Sitting right by the center stairway on this open deck you can view the white wake trail the ship leaves behind. DH and I would utter our favorite phrase when sitting there.... we are cruisin'!
