San Juan After Dark.

Take a cab to El Morro. [closes at 5pm or 6pm--changes with season] This is the high ground. When they kick you out begin your walk downhill to the port. You will pass many shops and restaurants. Stop at La Barrachina [sp??] where they invented the Pina Colada and have a drink.

There is a casino in the Sheraton across the street from the port. Also a Senor Frogs. It washopping when we were there. There is a CVS pharmacy where you can get water, soda, etc.

I highly recommend the Night Tales of Old San Juan tour with Debbie Molina Ramos. We just returned from our cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette 3 days ago. Her tour was fast-paced, well-priced and fascinating! Wear comfy shoes, bring a bottle of water, your camera, and be prepared to learn all about old San Juan, past and present.:)

I'm so glad you wrote something---I was just ready to book----did you give your credit card info before hand or did you book once you got off ship?? I see its 35 pp which is great for a tour---and I see you get to go in areas that are closed after 5pm??

Tell me more!!

I second that! We'll be in San Juan 3-9pm in January and was wondering the same thing; what to do at night. We were there last year and did the segway tour during the day which was awesome, but wasn't sure what to do in the evening besides just eating dinner.

Thanks for the recommendation. We are sailing from San Juan next year but I have already started looking at things to do. This sounds perfect for our first evening!

  • 4 weeks later...

Just got back---we were in port from 2-10pm.....we got on the free trolley to El Morro---nice ride---and you don't have to walk the long road up to the fort (A plus believe me!!) Then we met Debbie at the Columbus statue---we had the trolley drop us on the way back. This tour was pretty good---it was very fast paced----not for anyone who walks slow---I was kind of shocked when we walked and we were at the foot of El Morro!!! Not a lot of rest stops---and to buy water ---was passing by a man with a cooler --no one stopped as we rushed toward the fort. We did get to see a free 3D movie that was happening across from the fort in an pen air museum---that was cool---San Juan was preparing for a big festival the following day so the were barricades and we saw a car getting towed..lol. The tour was okay---don't think I would do it again. On the way back to port there was a Smoothie vendor----on the street not far from the ship----Wonderful Smoothies---and a great souvenir cup to boot!! We asked for the recipe and got a refill for 2 bucks!!! :D
