Have Constellation Questions ? Ask Away !!!

Hi Norma,

Your question was posted after I had already left for the ship, and I did not see it until tonight. Hopefully, another Constellation cruiser will be able to answer. My apologies !

We used the T pool during our March 9 trip on Connie. The faucets were there and the rails where you rested. It seemed the same as always to me and we loved it!

Hi, Andy! I saw your reply about the gym, but did you happen to notice if there were any spinning classes while on board? I have never been on Celebrity before, but on another ship I was on they had a few classes that you could go to for $10 extra per class. Thanks!

Hi Andy,

I was on the same sailing as you. My first time on Celebrity and I really enjoyed it.

I have to agree with you about the itinerary. I wish they could get a few more hours in at Key West. I was also a bit perturbed that they scheduled Adam Trent the Magician for Cozumel night at 9 pm when back on board wasn't until after that. The other niggling issue for me was the acapella group, I enjoyed them so much at the Welcome Aboard show that I scanned all the schedules to see when and where they would be performing but could never find them! I did catch them at the St. Patrick's Day concert the last night.

We weren't real joiners until the sea day on the last day, we did the Billboard 80's music challenge (we won!) and I got to be a judge during the Star Chef Competitiion. I also did the St. Patrick's Day/General knowledge trivia (won again!) and one of the arts and crafts sessions. It was an entertaining way to spend the day.

I do have a question for you though... I had heard that Celebrity is phasing out their piano bars, so will the whole piano bar entertainer position be gone after her drydock? Liz wasn't sure.

Thanks,

Laura

Hi Laura,

I wish I knew what their plans are. We've heard lots of rumors that Celebrity is phasing out the Piano bars, but my guess is, they might remain on the short (4/5 night) sailings. It seems that Celebrity is fairly uninterested in this type of entertainment going forward. Based on recent observations, and today's press release - it's safe to say that Celebrity is moving towards entertainment that caters to their younger guests, and it seems the Piano bars play very well with the older crowd.... something Celebrity is not interested in currently.

That's disappointing to hear. I love a good piano bar and I don't really think of myself as old (44, and we were the second youngest couple seated at our 10 top the last night...)

I love the piano bars on Carnival and have to say that with the right entertainer in there, they are pretty big with the younger crowd. Liz Strauss did a few contracts with Carnival.

I've done all Carnival in the past and took this opportunity to branch out to Celebrity. I really enjoyed my cruise, it was a bit more laid back and I will sail Celebrity in the future when I want that vibe.

Oh one more question: Do you know what ship the Constellation used to be? We were curious because as we were on the gangway boarding we noticed that underneath the "Celebrity X Cruises" on the aft of the ship there were imprints of other letters (painted over white) that we couldn't make all of them out. I think it started with a G. Silly question I know, but curiosity gets the best of me.

I lied.. one more question. Is the Star Chef Competition only on the Constellation or is it across the fleet?

Thanks!

Laura

Hi Laura,

Constellation has always had the same name. It might have looked different due to various paint schemes over the years. As for the Star Chef - I'm pretty sure it's offered on all other Celebrity ships. I hope this helps !

Hi Andie,

Can you confirm whether or not they have hair dryers in the cabin (as well as with the wall-unit devide in the bathroom)? I'm just trying to figure out my packing.

Another question: Is there a fee to use the gym. DH has a shoulder injury and would like to know if he can go there to continue his therapy. He's just looking to lift weights.

Thank you.

Hi Christine,

I mentioned in one of yesterday's posts, the hair dryers remain in the bathrooms. That I'm aware of, there's no fee to use the Gym equipment. I hope this helps.

Hi Shirley,

I'm feeling that way, and from speaking with several guests and crew onboard, they are all sensing the same thing. While I totally understand and respect Celebrity's goal to engage younger Guests, I strongly feel they should cater to *everyone*, not just one specific age group. If the economy declines again (and I believe it will), then Celebrity will need their older & most loyal guests more than ever. I strongly feel that if we get a downturn, Celebrity will regret such short-sighted decisions.

Sorry Andy! I was looking for a response and re-read the thread and didn't see it. Someone had posted that there was another hair dryer in the cabin as well.

Thank you for your answers. Much appreciated.

I will read this thread again in case I missed something else.

I am sorry to hear this as well. I think its unfortunate that they are wanting to cater more to the younger set. Andy is right ... the older crowd are the most loyal. Isn't that where we are all heading ?

We sailed the Constellation in Nov 2012 and Feb 2013 - in the concierge cabin there was a hair dryer in the bathroom and in the vanity/desk. In the balcony cabin, the hair dryer was only in the bathroom....so I brought my own knowing this.

Thank you. We are inside cabin this time around so will make sure to pack my hair dryer. Thanks again.

Hi Linda,

John Grantham is expected to be Connie's CD in May. I was unable to find out who the Captains Club Host will be in May, but it will not be Graeme, as he's leaving Connie before the Transatlantic. Sounds as if he will be doing short stints on a couple of Celebrity ships before heading to Century.

Thanks Andy. Glad you enjoyed your cruise! Connie is one of my favorite ships (second only to the Journey, of course).
