Ubiquitous Cruiser Posted March 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2013 Has anyone received their refund for the Dream cruise that was cancelled from 3/16 to 3/23? CCR said 10 days and we are past that on the calendar.
Vmalcolm Posted March 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2013 Not me. I rebooked and it shows up on paper (25%), but no cash back yet, nor refund for hotel which was nonrefundable.
noleswin Posted March 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2013 Still waiting on my refund as well. I was able to rebook a different cruise that week on Celebrity so I need those funds back ASAP. I've now got money tied up that was not budgeted. Might try and get on the phone today. I remember someone on our roll call was able to get them to walk the refund through while on the phone and got money in there acct same day so they could use it for another trip that week. Ubiquitous Cruiser Posted March 27, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted March 27, 2013 Really frustrating because I too have booked another cruise & have it on my credit card that is due the first of the month. You'd think that Carnival would be more considerate especially in light of all the negative press & consumer ill will they're currently receiving. ChrisYMQ Posted March 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2013 Gary Cahill either needs to step down or be removed immediately (and no golden parachute please). The damage the brand has taken under his endless string of incompetence is beyond comprehension, starting with the Splendor Spamcruise disaster, Costa Concordia etc. etc. How can the shareholders tolerate this...???? mardimay Posted March 30, 2013 #11 Share Posted March 30, 2013 Was on the dream that was stuck in St.Maarten. Nothing at all from Carnival. Our letter from the Captain said refund within 3 weeks. We'll see!
sailincajunns Posted March 30, 2013 #12 Share Posted March 30, 2013 Bon jour! Can't speak specifically to the Dream, but I can tell you our experiences from the Triumph. We were having dinner on Feb 10 in Galveston when we got the official 'email' from Carnival confirming our Feb 11 sailing was cancelled. We had the CC refund for our Carnival-sponsored shore excursions about two week after the cancellation. The CC refund for the cruise fare applied about 3 weeks after the cancellation. The first approved 'travel expenses' were "approved" on March 18 (so about 5 weeks after cancellation, and 4 weeks after we submitted receipts. That notice said "allow 10 to 14 business days"< which is pretty much three weeks. We have not yet received that check. The second approved 'travel expenses' (They needed different documentation for gasoline) were approved Mar 25, with the same 10 to 14 business day disclaimer. I suppose I'll know next week if they meet the 14 business day target, since the 10 day is no longer possible (Depending how CCL counts days) All CCL 'regulars' know that CCL has their own definitions for everything. In any case, we are still fans of cruising, and since CCL does year-round home port in NOLA, they remain the 'easiest' choice. If you notice the history, however, we have done a couple NCL in the past couple years, and enjoyed that experience as well. I hope everyone's credits/ refunds process smoothly and quickly, and for those that have re-booked (as have we) I hope you have smooth sailing and calm seas. Bon Voyage:)
Ubiquitous Cruiser Posted March 30, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted March 30, 2013 Got our refund yesterday but they shorted us $100 which was our pre pay voucher we redeemed. Guess we will have to fight them for that.
SFNC cruising Posted March 31, 2013 #14 Share Posted March 31, 2013 Wednesday, BUT only after calling the travel agent and she contacted CCL. We got the refund for the shore excursions a week before and the Carnival Mastercard points credited back to our account for our $200 OBC before that even. You would think CCL would be better at the refund deal, having a lot of practice lately. ;)
Vmalcolm Posted March 31, 2013 #15 Share Posted March 31, 2013 Got ours yesterday but were shorted $20.50 of the 25%. At this point, I'm not going to argue about it. Hope hotel refund comes soon.

Sunnymom02 Posted April 3, 2013 #22 Share Posted April 3, 2013 We received ours the other day back on our Credit card. It was for the cruise only. We received a letter today saying that they will not refund our flights as they talked to Sun Country and we have a "flight credit" and Carnival will gladly pay the $200.00 for flight transferring. I have no idea how long this is good for? We were not planning on flying for another year. Not too happy about that as in their statement, they said they would cover all travel expenses!!! Hopefully our trip insurance will allow us to get our flight money back. Really don't want a flight voucher as airfare changes so much! On the bright side, Carnival is mailing us a check for the Florida hotel that we were supposed to stay at. Here is the letter: We would like to offer our sincere apologies for the disruption and cancellation of your cruise vacation. After reviewing your airfare expenses, we have confirmed with Sun Country that you are are being offered a credit for future travel. Therefore we will be unable to provide you with a refund for your airfare. Upon redeeming your credit with Sun Country, Carnival will be more than happy to assist you with the $200 fee to change your air ticket upon request. We will however, reimburse you for the Hotel expenses since we were able to confirm with Doubletree that you were not able to use your reservation. What if I do not want the credit? And want my money back??
