Got off the Legend on Sunday.

Overall we had a nice cruise. The food was very good, as it usually is on CCL. We especially liked the creme caramel dessert at lunch and the creme brulee at dinner. Those two treats are simply wonderful. The prime rib was also really done well. The dinner service was excellent!!!!! We did anytime dining and loved it. We sat with folks at breakfast on the sea days in the dining room and enjoyed meeting new people but loved our together time at dinner too. I do miss the free expresso that we used to get on CCL, it is still available but is a charge. Gold, platinum and diamond cruisers do get a free drink coupon in their cabin that can be used for an alcoholic drink at lunch or breakfast (or for a nonalcoholic one too) in the dining room. That was a nice perk because it can even be used for specialty drinks like the flavored Margaritas and Long Island Iced Teas.

If at all possible do try to get a balcony cabin on this ship. It is a wonderful experience to just sit in the morning with coffee or tea. I also love to sit and read in the afternoon and just watch the sea go by. Our cabin steward was great. He kept our cabin immaculate. You now have to request ice in your cabin if you want it. We like to bring our own tea bags and make our own iced tea.

We did miss Grand Cayman and that was disappointing but another port was replaced for it-Costa Maya in Mexico. We were informed of that change before we cruised. This port was not anything like Grand Cayman but CCL did try to give the cruisers another experience.

We enjoyed the overall experience. The CD was very good and the entertainment was fine. Debarcation was not as smooth as on other CCL

ships but it may have just been the day.

I did have one mildly disappointing experience. We have bought several different pieces of art by an artist that I collect on cruises. We bought a take off piece of art that was framed and the plexiglass was scratched. We were told before we bought it by the art staff that they would smooth out the scratches in the plexiglass on the framed piece of art and that the scratches would not be visible. The gallery supposedly was going to repair it and they didn't deliver it to our cabin until 11 pm the last night of the cruise. It was wrapped up so we could take it on our flight so we didn't unwrap it on the ship. When we unwrapped it at home we saw that nothing was done to it. The plexiglass is very scratched. I just wish we'd been told that they could not repair the plexiglass because I would not have bought it. I do love the artist's work and will enjoy this work of art but it is not the great bargain that I thought it was. I will try to repair it myself and if that isn't possible I'll simply have it reframed.

Yet overall this was a great trip. The CCL dining, housekeeping and entertainment staff was wonderful. I truly encourage others to try this cruise next year when the Legend returns to Tampa.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. A quick question, we are booking tomorrow.

Does the legend have the adults only pool or deck area ? If so where is it located?

We've been land bound for a couple of years due to health problems in our family and I haven't been keeping up with the boards.

Thanks

Thanks Kenmo. Trying to decide if we want to book an aft or midship cabin. Deck plans I've found online are not current. We sailed the legend in 2008 and had an extended balcony all the way forward and it was a hike to everything.

We'll be booking tomorrow if doc says hubby is cancer free.

Planning to book tomorrow. Been looking at deck plans, pictures and you tube. I can tell the legend has the serenity adults only pool.

Does it have flat screen TV in the cabins yet?

Does it have any of the new food places such a guys burgers?

I called carnival and the phone answer-er said it had the big screen by the pool. Didn't see it in any pictures I found.

Trying to decide on mid ship or aft balcony. Hubby likes to make a quick coffee run when the mood hits him.

I just got off the Legend on sunday too! What an awesome cruise! I am not fond on Grand Cayman...way to expensive in the shops, so I was excited that they cut it!

They do have flat screens in some rooms, ours did not but the people we met did.

No guys burgers yet..not until after the 2.0 upgrades.

There is not a big screen on the Lido deck and I personally hope they dont add one.

I perfer mid ship. If you book near the midship elevators you can go right up and be in the Lido buffet for coffee!

Legend is my all time favorite ship. Just a few notes for those soon to enjoy her:

Don't miss the Golden Fleece Restaurant, the best meal you will ever have.

Do the Behind the Fun tour, very informative, I really enjoyed the experience.

Love the Serenity area, especially the hammocks.

Truly a lovely ship with quiet area's where you can people watch or read quietly everywhere.

Enjoyed the casino, and the casino enjoyed me.

If you have a favorite "potion in a bottle" order a Bon Voyage bottle and your set for the week.

There are a couple of laundry rooms with irons scattered about the ship, they work well for those touch ups.

She's a lovely ship, enjoy!

We have been on the legend before too and loved it. This class of ship seems to be less crowded than others. We have a balcony on hold right by elevators deck 6 . Sitting in room waiting doc now. Nervous

We had a good report from the doctor, I texted my travel agent and we are booked!! Mid ship balcony!!!

Thank you all for the quick answers and help.

Thank you Liilian Marie for the review and I'm sorry I sort of hijacked your thread.

My hubby's lymph nodes and biospies taken during surgery are clear, doc said he will have another PSA test in 5 weeks and if that comes back 0 he is cancer free!!! Since eveything else is clear we are expecting the best and plan to celebrate on the Legend in November!!!

Just booked the Legend for August with the friends and family promotion. For our cruise, the balcony and the extended balconies on deck seven are the same price. Our carnival agent told us to take a regular midship balcony vs the extended because he said the extended are pushed back into the ship ad the sight lines are not as good from the extended. Is it true? Was the view from the regular balcony better?

All extended balconies look down on the tops of the life boats with the exception of the extended balconies on deck 5 forward and aft facing balconies. The cabins are located in the "indented" sections of the ship and prevent you from seeing directly forward or aft. Your view straight out from the balcony is not obstructed. If you look at a picture of the ship, the extended balconies are located in the sections above the lifeboats.

The extended balconies on deck 5 forward are not "indented" and do not look down on lifeboats. These are usually still available even close to sail... We loved our cabin in this location-- extended balcony, plus with the angled glass, it felt even more spacious than the regular extended balconies because we had more legroom.
