Kiwi_cruiser Posted March 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2013 This afternoon Auckland had a rare afternoon visitor the Oosterdam. The Oosterdam spent the morning up at White Island and Great Mercury Islands before coming in to Auckland around 5 - 5:30pm NZDT. As it was Good Friday and northing is open, it was good they spent most of the day at sea. Oosterdam is also Auckland’s last summer cruise ship visitor! :( She's overnighting in Auckland and leaving tomorrow evening.
Kiwi_cruiser Posted March 29, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted March 29, 2013 If you have not seen White Island before here are a few pics from when we cruised by it on the Volendam back in 2008.
6andy6 Posted March 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2013 White Island looks good. Surprised more cruise ships don't sail by in daylight and 'nose' in. Would be actually quite a special event...
Kiwi Kruzer Posted March 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2013 When Statendam was here doing the Au/NZ cruises , we did a Christmas cruise with her that included White Island on Christmas Day.While everyone was on the starboard side looking into the crater , they lowered a lifeboat on the other side of the ship and it circled , with Santa and his Elves waving like crazy and wishing everyone Seasonal Greetings.
