Plaza Deck Cabin. Noisy?

Booked a Plaza Deck Cabin, P308, for ease of access to the IC, Internet, etc.

Now I’m wondering if performers noise, a very loud steel drum on my last cruise, can be heard in the cabins?

You say which ship your on. Cabins near the bow are under the theater . You might heard some noise during rehearsals and shows . Other wise it's pretty quiet area. Depending on the ship Internet could be up on deck 6 or 7.

Looking at your cruise schedule I am assuming that you are on the Crown. I would not be concerned about what is aft of you because you are a good distance removed from it. Looking at the deck plan above it appears that you are under the casino. It can go pretty late at night. It would concern me.

We were on the Crown Plaza deck Cant remember the room. But just past the International Cafe several rooms down the hall. An inside.

We heard loud banging noises early morning. Say 3-5 am

I read on cruise critic others heard this also. Maybe the crew on the deck below? Woke us up every morning.

Loved the location on the Plaza deck. Just not the early am wake up noise!

We stayed in P231 (inside) on the Sapphire a few years back. No noise from the atrium area. Actually, it was fairly quiet and the art gallery provided some buffer.

We did hear thrusters and machinery in the mornings when coming into port. It wasn't terribly loud to me... woke me up slightly, but I had no problem falling back asleep. DH is a very light sleeper, and he always travels with earplugs.

We were in P205 on the Emerald and it was very quiet except for the thruster noise occasionally when docking. We love Plaza deck because of the closesness to International Cafe, etc and like not having to wait for elevators when coming back from shore excursions.

My family was in an oceanview cabin on Plaza deck on the Sapphire Princess a few years ago and were surprised by how much we liked it. While we usually prefer balcony cabins (that was our first non-balcony), we found it to be quiet and definitely a convenient location.

We were in p305 on the Crown and absolutely loved it! We never heard noise from the piazza and rarely heard any more noise from ship. Great location.

We are just off the Sapphire and had an inside cabin on Plaza deck, but we were much more forward, under the theater. We certainly heard the music during each show. It was muffled, but we heard it. Also, there must be a crew area behind our room as we often heard banging and noise from the backside of our room. Your oceanview shouldn't have either of those problems. I would think casino noise wouldn't be too bad. Even though we could hear the noise from the theater, it was pretty muffled by the time it go into our cabin. And I am sure it was very loud in the theater. I think you should be fine.

That's what I wanted to hear. P308 is a keeper. I can roll out of bed and be at the coffee bar.:p

The thruster noise might be a good wake up call. It's a port intensive cruise: only one sea day.:)

Thank y'all for your responses.

BTW - My signature names the ship (Caribbean).

  • 2 years later...

I know there is a long gap between posts but thought i would add my experience

Ive had P300 on Sapphire princess perfect! I would have had it again but it was already taken for my next cruise so I have one nearby which should be fine I sussed it from outside the door.

ive just come back from Sun had a guaranteed room which was E329 on Emerald not a deck most would aim for a tiny bit of music noise for a small amount of time - was below the bar in The Wheelhouse. Really nothing to worry about but I have acute hearing due to never having played loud music in my life. Most dont hear the low beat sounds I can.

im hoping Caribbean P329 (coincidence of room number) will be o.k but its plaza and not below the Wheelhouse. Am also on the cruise before that but its guaranteed due to being a Christmas one . Trust I dont end up in a bad room but hopefully I will get same provided it's o.k.

I love Plaza deck a nice quiet deck near the art gallery on some ships and near the piazza which is always lovely at Christmas.

Warning: Sun has extremely bad rooms on Dolphin deck be wary of being above the theatre or Vista lounge. One night I walked down a passageway between 8-10pm and the racket was unbelievable and the whole corridor was vibrating. One person on my table had a room in that area and was miserable couldn't change. I heard of another couple there who camped out in the lounge , refused to sleep in their room until they were somehow changed but one person died and four were met by the police and refused sailing -drugs.

Even the prized Caribe corner aft balconys can have their problems I was on Diamond port excellent but my non smoker friend on starboard suffered from a crew area next to it with constant cigarette smoke drifting from it and into his room when he opened the main door.
