kee Posted April 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2013 Recently went on a cruise. My hair is short, I put a little gel on after washing. On the ship my hair was much nicer. Laid just so, fluffy in places. Is it the water? If so, how can I duplicate at home? Suspect our water is hard at home. Would bottled water make a difference? Let me know Ladies! I think it depends on the ship. Sometimes my hair is fluffy and thick, other times it looks the same. You can buy a sea salt spray or you can make one yourself. The problem is, I don't remember how---but you could google it!
luvscruising2007 Posted April 23, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2013 It could be the water. When using hard water the shampoo rinses out much better than with soft water. We have extremely soft water here at home and I doubt the shampoo ever gets out of my hair.

I think you need to take another cruise and do further research. It might even take a number of cruises to finally determine the reason!:D

5326jan Posted April 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2013 The water on the ship is so soft, I don't even need conditioner after shampooing. :)

It might even take a number of cruises to finally determine the reason!:D I vote for that , sounds like I need to do some research on this as well, should take at least 3 or 4 cruises to get the answere , and then a few more for more study on the subject. Right ?? Cori
cb at sea Posted April 24, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 24, 2013 Ship's water is VERY soft.....no minerals, to speak of, unlike 90% of the water in America! I bet you noticed it took more time to rinse shampoo out.....that's because the water is soft!
LindaM Posted April 24, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 24, 2013 I didn't explain....my DH said (years ago) that the ship's water is "desalinated". I guess that means they take the salt out of the water. The reason my hair looked fluffier was because there was still some salt left in the water.

poolreader Posted April 25, 2013 #11 Share Posted April 25, 2013 It could be the ocean air. It is not only my hair but my skin feels better on the ship. Heck, everything is just better on the ship, I think I should live on the ships.
VAL57SMITH Posted April 25, 2013 #12 Share Posted April 25, 2013 My hair gets really limpless and feels overconditioned (without using conditioner) when I am cruising.
