Rare Woobstr112G Posted April 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2013 Question regarding sailaways from Venice. Awhile back, I heard they were going to stop allowing cruise ships to sail through the Grand Canal while arriving and departing Venice as they would be re-routed to follow cargo ship routes. Are there any recent visitors to Venice that can confirm if the policy has in fact been implemented. Thanks in advance for the replies.....:):):) Bob
Chloe1500 Posted April 28, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2013 The cruise ships sail through the Lagoon on their way to dock at the pier (the sailing in and sailaway view is amazing, right past St Mark's), not the Grand Canal. I was on a Princess ship last fall, and it sailed through the Lagoon. The year before that, our Princess ship actually docked in the Lagoon during the day, then moved to the cruise ship pier in the evening.

We are not sailing from Venice till November so I hope there will not be any changes before then
Rare Woobstr112G Posted April 28, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted April 28, 2013 I know it's not actually the Grand Canal, but it's often referred to as such. Bob the Grand
