newparks Posted May 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2013 Has anyone done the Baltic cruise that transits throught the Kiel Canal in Germany on the Ocean Princess ?? I would love some feedback. Is it worthwhile choosing this itinerary versus the others, because it is a lot more expensive than the Royal or the Emerald. The group that I travel with is offering both for 2014. paul929207 Posted May 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2013 We have not done this itinerary on the Ocean P, but we did a Kiel Canal itinerary 15 years ago. We had a wonderful day sailing thru the canal. As to the Ocean P, she is a wonderful ship
piper28 Posted May 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2013 I'll know after July :). For me, I thought the itinerary was slightly more interesting, and historically from where I fly airfare to London was normally somewhat cheaper than airfare to Copenhagen, so I figured that might offset some of the difference (of course, that ended up not being true for us this year). The small ship pretty much books up, so don't expect prices on it to come down, while this year there's some really good price drops right now on the shorter Baltic cruises. But I'm very much looking forward to the Kiel Canal transit.

If you're interested in doing the July 20, 2014 Scandinavia & Russia Collection, which includes the Kiel Canal, a thread has been started for this cruise. Why don't you join us?
