Has anyone used Queasy Beads for Motion Sickness?

I just heard about the beads the other day. I know acupressure can really make a difference. I bought my first set of Queasy Beads tonight and wondered what others thought of them. Mine won't be here till next week.

I've never been seasick, but always carry meds and bio-bands just in case. We are cruising round trip out of San Francisco in about 10 days to Alaska and I've heard the waters from SF to Ketchikan can be rougher than from Seattle to Ketchikan which is what we are use to.

Never have used the Queezy Beads, but we do use sea bands (much cheaper...go to ebay):

I can't say for sure if they work or not. We wear them just as a precaution, but have never been sea sick.

My mom swore by these bands (your photo). Queasy Beads do the same thing just are a bit more stylish. Bio-Bands are the same principle too.

Heaven forbid that I'm not being stylish! Just teasing. I've gotten to the age where I don't really care if I am stylish or not.:D

Trust me, I understand. For years I had to wear jogging shoes 100% of the time because of orthotics in my shoes. Back then no one was making regular shoes that you could remove the foot bed and insert the orthotic into the shoe. Now not an issue.

One formal night on the cruise, I was wearing dressy slacks and a sparkly top AND my white jogging shoes. Teased my husband that everyone would think I had left my heels at home (but most admit at the time I was a bit embarrassed). While later that night at the casino, a woman and I started talking. She was complaining at how badly her feet hurt from wearing heels all evening. I told her my story (I did have comfy feet), and she laughed. She said she had noticed the shoes and her immediate thought was that I was really smart to be wearing such comfy shoes.

Nice to have choices/options.

I know what you mean.

Now that I have to use a walker/rollator -- no more heels and no long dresses/skirts. I don't want to have an accident with the material getting caught in the wheels.

I agree ... better to be safe than sorry.

I've tried them with limited success. By contrast, I've used Bonine and it worked wonders. I got it in the gift shop on my last cruise, because the seas were really rough, and in the future I'll definitely be packing some just incase.

I always pack OTC meds for motion sickness and will take the Queasy Bands too. Never been seasick before, but always have a "just in case" plan.

Oh, we'll have Bonine, too. DW is a little paranoid of sea sickness so we will have the band, Bonine, ginger pills, ginger gum, and default to green apples.

So important to be prepared. Better to have them and not need them.

This is probably after the fact, but .... I have several pairs of queasy beads - the genuine ones from Queasy Beads ~ Stylish Motion Sickness & Nausea Relief Bracelets and for me they are BRILLIANT!! I have worn them in the back seat of cars while driving up mountain ranges and most importantly on an 18 day cruise across the Pacific ocean. I get car sick in the back and very sea sick, but if I'm wearing a pair of Queasy Beads I have no problem at all. At one stage of our cruise we were in 6 meter swells and 50 knot winds and I was so proud of myself because I wasn't sick at all. I will never be caught on a cruise wearing those towelling bands, but I LOVE my queasy bead bracelets. I was even able to design my own bracelets to match my formal wear for the cruise :)

I did use the queasy beads for our cruise in May. First time EVER that both my husband and I were seasick. We cruised out of San Francisco.

Did not put the bands on until the rough seas hit. They did help, they did make a difference. They didn't totally eliminate the problem, but I know they helped. So many people were sea sick and some for days. I just felt bad (not awful) for a few hours twice during the whole cruise. I left the beads on through the whole cruise after our first rough seas. Got lots of compliments on them too. Hubby used the bio-bands and was pleased with them too. Don't think one was better than the other.
