There was a wedding on our TA the end of April on the QM2. The Bride and party were taking pictures in the Britannia right before they opened for lunch. They continued shooting pictures even after we were seated. So we were in attendance for the pictures. :D

 

My husband and I renewed our Wedding Vows for our 40th anniversary in the Queen's Room on the QM2 in 2008.

Lois and I were married on a ship and I highly recommend it. Wedding and Honeymoon all in one!:D The only thing I had to do was write the check.:eek:

Just a caution regarding being married on board ANY ship: please do your research regarding where your marriage license will be issued: QM2 is registered in Bermuda. Therefore, any couple (provied they are heterosexual, same sex marriage being prohibited) married on board will have a Bermuda marriage license. -S

Same here. The wedding packages amount to almost what the cruise can cost.It's obviously a good revenue generator for Cunard & other lines.

A samesex marriage could probably done, provided it's for people from states that allow it(such as NH where we're from).Not interested in renewing vows, as I feel it's just another schtick that the cruiselines are using to make more revenue. Our honeymoon(if you want to call it such)was on the QM2 in late 2010. That was the time we did the Queen Suite. Pricey, but we loved the attention to detail. I remember quite a few others didn't have it so nice. A lot of the staff was on the QE getting her up to snuff, so a lot of staff came over from Princess, which really doesn't know what it takes to properly run an oceanliner.

Cunard ships are registered in Bermuda. The laws of Bermuda apply on Cunard ships.

 

Whatever country/state the couple being married is from, has no bearing.

But as regards to a marriage license, state law varies in the US, just as it varies in different parts of the world. What is important to know is what the laws of marriage (and, sadly - divorce laws and child custody laws) in the state/country where the marriage license was issued: that will be the prevailing law. Not all Nation agree to the Geneva Convention on Child Custody, and not all Nations provide the same rights to women in the unforunate event of divorce. Sorry if this is a downer, but it's just the facts.

 

Hopefully, every couple will live happily everafter with no concerns about such issues.:) -S.

The best thing about getting married on the ship is we did not have to do anything. Oh wait, we just pay the bill :).

Hi turquoise. Yes, I believe was the case when Cunard ships were registered in Southampton as British law does not permit weddings at sea. According to Cunard's official statements back in the Fall of 2011, that is what prompted Cunard to re-flag its ships in Bermuda - which does permit weddings at sea (with certain conditions). I believe it did all change when She was registered in Bermuda. We originally booked the Holiday for my 40th Birthday and then decided that we would love to say our vows on board.

Actually, we've been together for nearly 20 years. In "straight" terms that's about equal to 2 fifty year marriages & 3 complete reincarnations!(I bet I get flamed by someone on this, who has no sense of humor)We did see a samesex "renewal" done in the Board Room a few years back. Of course it's not an official vow.Too bad. I guess that's more revenu that Cunard will lose.
