Quantum Keel Blocks are in the House!

Recommended Posts

I wonder if the reveal in NYC is intentionally scheduled in time to show off the completed exterior of Quantum.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did a live video feed of the last block being added at the event.

Maybe there is more to the reveal than just dining!

Now that would certainly make it a great reveal!

The yard website is being very slow at uploading a new webcam pic this week so again I wouldn't be surprised if they're going for a reveal of some sort in 2 days time

That would be a brilliant marketing move, but only if they actually live stream the event.

Which - based on what we've heard - they won't. I'm really excited about seeing updated deck plans with the food venues.

It makes me sick thinking they're going to stretch out this reveal over a few months. It could be a good marketing move, but only if they're upfront about it. I'm one of those people that wants to know everything now - but if that's not the case, I'd like to know when I'll find out about this and that.

Webcam update... No picture as of this post.

They may be in the process of moving and installing a block on the Quantum. They don't seem to want to show a webcam image with a block in progress. May be waiting until its done to give us a new image.

Hi everyone!

How you doing?

I’m a German guy I apologize for my English.

I'm so fascinated of cruise vessel and the technology. I actually interested more behind the scenes.

When I was reading the first Information about the “project sunshine” they have talked about 158,000 Gross Tonnage

During the planning process they change to 167,800 Gross Tonnage 16 Decks

Now I have found on Meyers German website 176,800 Gross Tonnage 18 Decks

Maybe they permute 6 and 7 or that’s why it is so secret.

Greeting René

http://www.meyerwerft.de/de/meyerwerft_de/schiffe/kreuzfahrtschiffe/royal_caribbean_international/projekt_sunshine/projekt_sunshine.jsp

I email Meyer Werft and got this in reply:

Dear ahecht,

we had a mistake on our website which we already corrected. The actual size of the quantum class ships is 167.800 *gross tonnages.

Best regards,

Mascha Abeln

Does anyone have a copy of the deck plans to show where these places are on each deck? I'm curious about the configuration.

You can probably pull them up on the RCCL site.

http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/ship/decks/deck/home.do?shipCode=QN

There was a link on the EVERYTHING QUANTUM thread that was posted in the UK site that has now been taken down. Glad someone thought to copy and paste the listing. I also read that there was a dining option thread here that was just created that was removed as well.

Yeah I saw them but didn't get a chance to save them down. They are all located where you'd think they'd be.

From memory: The Grand, Chic, Silk and American Icon are in the aft (not all the way - there is still white space - which many believe to be the galley) on decks 3/4. The expectation is that these will replace the MDR. Some think rotational, I think flexible with the choice to rotate if you'd like. The pub is in the "promenade" on deck 4. Sorrento's and Cafe Promenade are next to each other in that promenade. Deck 5 has the specialty restaurants peppered throughout (most likely surcharge). You know where Cafe 270 is.

The Windjammer is in the rear. The Pacific Coast thing is next to the Windjammer. Johnny Rockets is right next to the main outdoor pool. And you know where the Solarium Cafe and food trucks are.

I think that covers it! If anyone has the actual plans saved down and wants to elaborate or correct me, please do!

You know, I really enjoy the MDR and having the same wait staff every night and getting to know them and them us. Love having all our favorites ready for us as soon as we walk in so if they don't follow us, I'm going to be bummed if it's rotational and they don't come with us.

So, with the restaurants listed above, here's what I have:

Deck 3 - 2 More to comes - 2 Restaurants

Deck 4 - 6 More to comes - 5 Restaurants

Deck 5 - 9 More to comes - 6 Restaurants

Deck 14 - 4 More to comes - 4 Restaurants

Deck 15 - 1 More to come - 1 Restaurant (Hot Dog Truck)

That means that after this reveal, there will be 4 More to Comes left to be revealed.

Do you think that they would hold another reveal for the remaining 4 or that they will let us all know what these things are during tomorrow's reveal?

Deck 5, with the most unknown More to comes, looks very much like the promenade, contains shops and restaurants. I can't imagine what else they would put on the Promenade in those other 3 More to comes.

Deck 4 has 1 more More to come, and is also on a deck that has a lot of Restaurants and Retail as well.

Thoughts?

One more question:

What are the massive areas on Decks 3 and 4 at the back of the ship that have nothing defined? Engine/Mechanical Room?

I agree, I loved being welcomed by our names and it is amazing how they know exactly what we like after one day.

I was hesitating in writing this comment, but I just got off the Explorer last week and one of the officers said the dining room will be split into different areas to dine. I know many times the crew on the ship are not correct about what is going on, but I thought since the subject came up I would throw it out there. I also believe the dining room will be on Decks 3 and 4. The areas are to large just to be a galley.

Hope they update the cam photo today.

I managed to save the pdf of the Anthem deck plans before it was removed. I feel bad for RCI if the content of this accidental 'reveal' was what tomorrow's NYC reveal is all about. Takes some of the shine off of it. Maybe they'll add something else unplanned to tomorrow's event to make up for it?

Meanwhile, still no webcam update, huh?! Edited by Lloyd555

I was thinking this, and whilst I think it was a genuine mistake, hasn't it had the effect they would want? It's created a big stir on cruise critic, everyone's once again focussed on quantum/anthem as a product.

People are still just as interested in the reveal tomorrow as we don't have all the details, but in the mean time the fans feel as though they're in the know. Then it's all pulled and were all left to theorise over the remnants, wanting more once again.

And yes no webcam image, grr!

We feel exactly the same way. On our last cruise we were a group of mostly family and our assistant waiter started referring to us as his family. We just loved him and would look for him in the Windjammer every morning to say hello. It's not a deal breaker but very disappointing.

I agree, I don't feel bad for Royal Caribbean at all. I think their conduct of this reveal has been ridiculous and it's long past time that we have a full reveal, especially now that we're about to extend Quantum's bookings into her second season!
