Do people wear open toed shoes (nice sandals) in the MDR on cruises to Alaska?

 

I am SO used to packing for caribbean cruises that I think I am making myself crazy trying to figure out what to pack for Alaska (shore AND ship clothing).

 

Also, how is the temperature on the ship (in the MDR)? In the caribbean, it's air on. Is the heat on for Alaska??

I do. The temperature indoors on the ship tends to be "room temperature". :)

I wear sandals in the MDR (the same pair I take to the Caribbean).

I took the same shoes on my AK cruise that I would take to the Caribbean, except I left the water shoes at home.

 

I used my sneakers for touring and sightseeing. [i took extra pairs of socks] But, I wore sandals on the ship. It was summer in Virginia and I was used to sandals and they took up less space in my suitcase.

 

I had a whale watch and we took a land tour that included Denali. But, I never needed any unusual footwear.
