Rare oskidunker Posted June 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2013 itinary is Quebec City to NYC. Can anyone suggest a stop for this. Would like something made locally or as an alternative a nice cashmire sweater that won't cost a fortune.
Twickenham Posted June 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2013 There should be some shops in Old Québec selling nice sweaters.
Rare LHT28 Posted June 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Nova Scotia or Newfoundland would probably have hand made sweaters
laverendrye Posted June 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2013 If you are stopping in Saint John NB, and if there is an excursion to St. Andrews, I highly recommend Cottage Craft for fine hand knit sweaters. You can buy off the shelf there, but they will also take your measurements and choice of colour and style and have one knit for you--it will be sent to you when finished. They have been doing this for nearly 100 years. If there is no excursion you could easily rent a car and drive there--it's a lovely historic town well worth visiting. http://www.cottagecraftwoollens.com/ Of course, you will also find lots of choices in Québec City. You might start with La Maison Simons in the Upper Town.
maryann ns Posted June 11, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2013 I would think Quebec City is your best bet. There is also a shop in Halifax that may have sweaters: http://www.jennifers.ns.ca/ They have an outlet at the cruise terminal I believe and the main shop is in walking distance on Spring Garden Road.
