janacin Posted June 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2013 We are regulars on Princess however we are thinking of taking a long cruise on the Oosterdam and have a few questions: What is the decor like on the Oosterdam? Is she in good shape? When was the last drydock? I realize that food is very subjective but how is it, let's say campared to Princess? How is the casino? Lots of slots? How are the beds? How is the gym? Plenty of treadmills? Is there a steam and sauna that you can use without paying for the thermal spa nonsense? Besides being a smaller ship, how would you compare her with the Sapphire or the Golden Princess. Thanks in advance for your perspective. She matches up well with the Sapphire just not so big Thanks in advance for your perspective. Marty The Oosterdam is one of our favorite Hal ships, she was on the west coast from many years and we miss her as she is doing different itinerary's now. She has a wonderful crew. I don't think you would go wrong cruising on her.
hvsteve1 Posted June 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2013 For steam you need the rather pricey thermal spa package which lets you use the big indoor whirlpool, heated lounges and scented steam rooms. However, the sauna is just off the pool deck and open to everyone.
Rare erewhon Posted June 19, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2013 The Oosterdam was in dry dock in Sydney, Australia, for a fortnight in December 2012. Her first cruise after dry dock commenced on the 19th December.
