Dream vs Fantasy b2b2b

Our last two cruises were on the Disney Fantasy for 7 nights each. We absolutely loved them. We are considering doing a B2B2B on the Dream next spring. We would sail a 3 night/4night/3night sequence. We have completed a few other back to backs on other cruise lines - but this would be our first experience with Disney.

 

What is the process for debarkation/reboarding? Anyone have experience with Disney and cruising multiple consecutive cruises?

 

Are there any major differences between the two ships that we should be aware of?

 

Are there formal nights on the shorter Dream cruises? Is there a Pirate night or other big activity similar to Pirate night? Does the Dream have the fireworks display?

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have been on DCL B2B cruises.

 

You firstly will link them up on online check in saying at the end of cruise one, that your disembarkation is back on ship.

 

Last night you will get instructions on what to do.

 

We were told to disembark by 9.00am leave our luggage in our room as we had the same room, walk off, go back up to the first floor after the customs, and then when they turnaround the computers to the next cruise, you check in and your back on circa 10.30am.

 

The process was simple but slightly annoying getting off and back on.

 

Do not get off too early you will just have longer to wait to get back on.

 

I would say the process will depend on how many people are back to back we had only a few circa 22 so we went diy ourselves, I think if there are a lot you meet at guest services but to be honest that inst required.

 

All ship services inc pools are closed when you get on until boarding starts but we found it a good time to do the laundry.

Are you able to reboard with the concierge guests or are you just part of the general boarding group?

That sounds an older process it isnt like that anymore and not that quick, work on being off circa 90 mins.

 

You will reboard before all other guests,

 

IE on B2B,

 

  • off 9.00am.
  • Wait in terminal.
  • Last people off old cruise.
  • Computers turned over to new cruise.
  • You check in.
  • You go back on circa 10.30am.
  • They open the terminal to new cruise guests, 10.45.
  • Suite concierge go on circa 11.15am.

We did meet up as a group outside guest services before debarking, checked in and then waited in the concierge lounge until it was time to board the ship again. The wait was longer than we expected, and I would not want to do a B2B2B if it was the same itinerary, having to repeat the same shows. Doing a B2B was nice, as we didn't have to rush to fit in everything in 3 or 4 days and the last half was more relaxing. But the turnover day was a couple of hours of annoyance with getting off the ship, sitting and waiting, having to do the muster drill again, etc.

 

There are formal nights on the Dream, a pirate night, and fireworks. And you can request to have the same CM in the dining room for all cruises, if you prefer. The Fantasy has the Aqua Lab (Dream does not), and a different adult pool area.

 

If you don't want to do the Fantasy again, or try the newly refurbished Magic, have you considered trying another cruise line, or doing a B2B with a different ship, for something different?

We've done B2B cruises at least 3 times and have another booked next month. NEVER have they been handled in the same way, and there were differences between what we experienced and what people have posted on various boards and friends told us to expect.

 

The ONLY consistent thing was that we always got a letter in our cabin the day before with our instructions.

 

The differences seem to be related to the port (Customs/immigration requirements), the number of guests doing B2Bs, etc.

 

Our of Port Canaveral with only 2 cabins doing B2B, we were told to be off the ship by 9:15, go thru Customs, and tell them we were doing a B2B. We were pointed to the stairway that re-entered the terminal. about 45 minutes later a CM appeared and checked us in for our next cruise and we were able to board before the terminal opened to new incoming guests. Snacks were available in the Cove Cafe (as if we hadn't just eaten). ALL B2B cruisers were adults, but the letter indicated that until 11:15, children would be allowed in the Cove area. The pools were open as soon as they had been cleaned. Slides were not as lifeguards were not on duty.

 

On other B2Bs, things totally varied. Sometimes we were told to meet the group of B2Bs at a certain place/time and escorted off. In Barcelona, everything was handled at Guest Services--we didn't have to get off the ship. Adult food was available at the Cove Cafe and food for families with children was available in the Promenade Lounge.

 

If you are changing cabins, the stateroom hosts will handle it--leave your luggage in your old cabin and it will appear in the new one. Not moving--no need to pack up. ALSO....you are the first family in the terminal to try to purchase an upgrade at the port. IF they call you the night before and offer an upgrade for a price, say NO. It was less than 1/2 the cost the next morning!

One thing we did as we had the same room both cruises was to tell our stateroom host and they did a deep clean on Castaway Cay day, and our room was ready when we got back onboard.
