Forward balconies on the Sapphire

We have a forward facing balcony on our July Alaska cruise. I know these balconies are generally locked due to high wind when sailing, but are they locked on the days cruising the glaciers.

I am hoping that since the ship is stationary or at a very slow speed we will be allowed to use the balcony.

Thanks in advance

The doors will be open for use anytime it is considered safe to do so. Friends of ours stayed in one of these cabins for your exact same trip and they were unlocked during the glacier visit. Only problem was that because the way the ship was orientated at the glacier they couldn't see anything from their balcony and ended up going topside to one of the public decks for a view. No way to tell if this will happen to you or not until the Captain decides what he is doing on that day. Other traffic in the area often determins what he has to do.

Are these cabins priced very low? I'm wondering why anyone would choose a balcony cabin when they have no idea when they can actually use the balcony. Doesn't seem worth much more than a standard oceanview to me.

They are not sold as balcony cabins.

They are sold as the highest category oceanview cabins.
