My Carnival Crush

Okay, I like music but have not been overly obsessed with any one group or person in quite some time. Alright...I'll admit there might have been a boy band WAY back when...but I digress.

I just got off the Conquest and there is a singer on board who is amazing! Let me say that again...AMAZING! His name is Ashby Frank. We (my husband, too) absolutely loved listening to him. This is the first time in our many cruises that we would actually look in our Fun Times to see where he was playing so that we could be sure to stop and listen for awhile.

If you are lucky enough to be on the Conquest in the next few months, be sure to take some time from bingo or the trivia contest to take a listen to Ashby. You won't be disappointed.

Now I ask the question: Who is your favorite entertainer on a Carnival ship? Brag away!

during our Valor cruise 12/12 we came upon an awesome casino band "Revolver". They also where head liner during the late night Lido deck party.

The only reason they stopped playing was due to guest sleeping in cabins below. They didn't want to draw any complaints.

They were spot on with everything and kept the crowds where they played. Nobody left when they played. It actually got crowded in the casino and the piano bar emptied.

He is long gone from Carnival, but Joel Sarakula (piano bar) on the Valor in 2007 was AMAZING! It was packed out every night, and we didn't want him to ever stop. I would look to check the times he would be playing every day.

Blackjack Band has been the same for me. I have had them playing on 5 of my cruises on 3 different ships. The best crowd was my time on the Conquest. They drew a huge crowd on there, and the people were dancing all the time. People around my age, as a young adult, dancing to something other than rap! That was so great! I was checking the times every day for them. They have drawn more subdued crowds (and not as many young adults, as those young adults wanted the rap) on my last couple cruises with them, but I still enjoy listening to them. And they are the nicest people! They are currently on vacation, but returning to the Dream later in the month.

Loved both him and Travis. It was so nice having good acoustic guitar music on board! Twas such a treat to sit on deck and enjoy the sun and breeze while they played by the pool. I was right there with you in checking the Fun Times to see when they were playing - that was usually the first thing I looked at!

Aboard Carnival Ships, it's got to be "Blackjack Band". As noted above, they are not only excellent performers, but fantastic people to boot.

Aboard other lines, I sailed with, and got to know quite well "Mark Preston" who was one of the "Lettermen" years ago. He puts on an outstanding show, and is truly a GREAT singer, and a prince of a man!

We too really like revolver. Had them when they first started and then actually looked for cruise ships they were performing on.

Great musicians and have fun with the crowd. Hope to sail with them again.

I don't remember his name, he was a younger guy (looking at the funtimes it was either Alex or Tommy Green Jr), he played the guitar music in the atrium on my fascination cruise back in may. He was REALLY good (not bad to look at either lol ;)). I really enjoyed having a drink at the bar and listening and watching him play.

We liked Travis until we heard Ashby. Ashby set the bar and then vaulted over it. Lol! It was nice to hear him out by the pool and in the lounges. We stayed up late many a night to catch him at Vincent's.

Being easy on the eyes is definitely a bonus! Though just putting a guitar in a man's hands bumps him up on the scale. :)

We sailed on the Liberty in May, and there were two different guys playing at different times.

Dylan Holton, and Andrew Ferguson played their guitars, and sang. They were on the Lido, and in the Atrium.

They were both really good, and super nice!!! Easy on the eyes too!!:p

We really loved listening to them entertain.

I agree Blood Power is great. I wish they were back on the east coast. The last I heard they were on a ship out of New Orleans.

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

They were on the Paradise when I was aboard on Apr. 29 cruise. They said that in a month they would be on vacation and were hoping that Carnival renews their contract and deploys them to the West coast as that is closer to home (The Philippines).

Out of 21 Carnival cruises there's a few that stand out to me.

Ron Pass, piano bar...no longer going to be playing on Carnival.

Douglas Trask, guitar player & singer...was on the Spirit & presently on the Legend! He always remembered Us & Our song!

Tommy Green Jr., Guitar player & singer...Was on one of our Splendor cruises. He was a guest on our Inspiration cruise last month & played during the Welcome Aboard show.
