14 day Caribbean Adventure

We are booked on this cruise 7 Dcember 2013. On our confirmation paperwork there is a note which says: As this voyage is made up of 2 joined together 7 day trips, you will need to disembark the ship on it's return to Fort Lauderdale at the end of the first 7 days. Apparently it is necessary for us to clear customs and then reboard the ship! Has anyone done this voyage before? If so, please can you tell me how long this process is likely to take?

All of those who are like you (in-transit guests) will meet in a room and be escorted off the ship together to go through customs and immigration. Once the ship is cleared then you can return back to the ship or you could just stay off the ship if you plan to anything in Fort Lauderdale that day.

Thanks. So about how long does the process take usually?

How long it takes depends on if everyone shows up at the appointed time. Plan on 30-60 minutes if they do. But there have been horror stories of passengers standing in the sun on an open gangway for hours waiting for ship's security to track down one missing person (who inevitably was snoozing on a lounge chair on deck).

But assembling and marching off as a group applies to you ONLY if you are planning to stay onboard the ship the entire time she is docked at Port Everglades. If you want to go off to see Ft Lauderdale you will be allowed to exit as soon as you want after disembarkation begins, and can reboard at your leisure once regular embarkation starts; just tell them you are an in-transit passenger and you will be whisked on and off.
