cherbear4000 Posted July 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2013 How is the tender process in Grand Cayman? I have a private excursion booked. Do we have to get tender tickets ahead of time? Does the tender process go quickly when the ship docks?

Elaine5715 Posted July 28, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Entertainment staff pass out numbers based on your excursion or status like platinum diamond or FTTW. The tenders take a couple hundred people at a time.
douglinc@msn.com Posted July 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2013 It usually goes pretty fast. If you have an early excursion, just be sure to tell them.
BarJen Posted July 28, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2013 its a very short tender from the boat to the dock, it should go smoothly for you :) Barry

Either go to guest services to be escorted down to deck 1 or do what we do, go ourselves holding out our platinum cards for all to see.
nlktx49 Posted July 28, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Went to Grand Cayman back in January on the Magic. First time to tender, it went very smoothly, enjoyed the ride. We weren't trying to be first off the ship, didn't have to wait more than a few minutes. Easy getting back to the ship too, seemed to have plenty of boats to keep everyone moving. Dare2Believe Posted July 28, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 28, 2013 We just got off the Freedom yesterday and did the whole tender process a few days ago. We had FTTF. We went to Guest Services around 8:30 I guess, and we were told to meet the guest services rep down on deck 0. We did so, but just walked right off with the rest of the few people who were down there already. No hassle at all - in all honesty, we probably didn't even need to use our FTTF privileges, there was no line whatsoever. The line to get back on the ship was very long, but constantly moved so it wasn't so bad. That was at around 2pm when we had to be back on by 3:15 or so. The cruise director said that if there are multiple ships in port (there was another Carnival ship there our day), the first ship to arrive gets the bigger tenders. Luckily we arrived first and got the very large tenders - they were huge and ran constantly.
Sparky2 Posted July 29, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 29, 2013 Just to be pedantic, the ship does not "dock" anywhere. It drops anchor. Doesn't the tender stop at a dock when it gets to Grand Cayman? The ship drops anchor.
golfadj Posted July 29, 2013 #12 Share Posted July 29, 2013 Does take a long time to load and unload the tenders. Lots of people going on one at a time.
