Tour with plenty of rocky cliffs with waterfalls - Other than Tracy Arm?

Hi -

I find the pictures of Tracy Arm to be gorgeous and exactly what I want to do. However, our ship is doing Glacier Bay, not Tracy Arm (that I am aware of) and it is mid May when we are going. Are there any other locations along - Ketchikan-Juneau-Skagway-Sitka-Icy Strait Point - that have similar rocky cliffs/fjords with water cascading down?

Thanks much!!

Do you have 12 hours port time in Juneau? 7-7p as example? IF so you could do a Tracy Arm trip.

Sailing the Lynn Canal is sort of close, so perhaps, be up very early for the transit in, then take the time to see the way out. Taking the White Pass RR, has some extremely scenic vistas and a few water falls. Waterfalls are also scattered throughout Misty Fiords with some of your flightseeing in canyons. EACH area is unique and you can't do it all in one trip.

My best advice to you is to forget the casino, shows, lengthy dinners etc and spend your time outdoors, forward viewing. The longer you are out- the more you see, simple as that.

Hi BudgetQueen,

I'm so glad you answered!! We have 12 hours in Juneau, but the ship shows the Allen Marine Excursion only taking 5 hours through Tracy Arm. I wonder if they pick you up from the ship enroute to Juneau then. I wanted to do Alaskan Bound but we don't get there soon enough (9am - 9pm), and wow - that trip is longer - almost 11 hours!!

I would really like to see up close from a boat instead of a plane. Maybe it's just me, but in a plane I always want to get down and look up.

Contact Allen Marine directly for what they have available. This is talked about occasionally on this board, and the time is important for me. Shorter tours mean, LESS time sightseeing- bottom line, seeing less. Even with a "fast" boat, a negative for me, as again, it isn't going to catch the sights you would in a slower boat, and the shorter time is dictating the stops and for how long, much more than a longer tour.

In Seward, The Kenai Fjords Tours, Northwestern Glacier (9 hour tour) is fabulous. They take the boat VERY close to a beautiful waterfall and calving glaciers. Not to mention great whale and wildlife shows. Highly recommend!

Thanks Jarand. I would love to visit the Kenai Fjords, but we will not be in Seward.
