I'm looking for a recommendation on a hotel in Auckland for 3 nights post cruise in November. I dont know if there are areas that are not "safe" and hotels should not be booked.

Having an idea of your budget will help. The Hilton is fantastic, but can be expensive depending on your financial expectations. But I do love the Hilton because it's right on the water in the CBD, and the pool is great.

Cost is not too much of a concern since we get discounts at many of the chain hotels.

We stayed at the Rydges Auckland and loved the hotel. Great views of the harbour and a very easy walk to many shops and restaurants.
