ATM on Ruby Princess

Are there ATMs on the Ruby and if so, are the charges the same as you would expect on shore? Thanks!
Yes, there's an ATM but you don't want to use it unless it's an emergency. There's a per-transaction fee plus any charges your bank would apply. I think it's $3.50/transaction but it's been years since I knew the amount. The ATM is dependent on an Internet connection as well as whether there is money in the machine. If you are considering exchanging currency on the ship, don't. Period. The exchange fee is awful.

I used an ATM once on a Carnival Ship. And even though I had informed the bank I was traveling they deactivated my card. It seems since I had told them I'd be in a certain place on a certain date and the ATM charge came through Miami they just shut it down. I did call them while on board and fixed it, it was a hassle. Hint: get the banks fraud number before you leave and add it to your phone - just in case!

Except for the Australia based ships, the ATMs only dispense US $$$.

I think the transaction fee is north of $5 now.

I agree with PAM. Exchanging US $ for foreign currency on board is a quicker way to lose value than the slot machines in the casino. It is at a very poor exchange rate plus a transaction fee.

So, to get foreign currency, an onshore ATM is best if you can get to one before you need the local currency.

The last I heard the ATM was $5.50/transaction so only in a dire emergency. For local currency use a bank ATM in that port. They usually are near the port but beware of the transaction fees as some are even higher than the ship always given in their currency of course. You will be charged a currency exchange rate as well for using a foreign port ATM but much better than what the ship will do to you.

Some debit cards will have no foreign exchange fee (for example, CapitalOne) and some other will reimburse transaction fees. There are some that do both.
