ContessaK Posted September 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2013 I'm going on a cruise soon and while I don't normally gamble, I thought it might be fun to play a low cost machine, perhaps penny or nickel something. Maybe nickel Keno if they have that? I have no idea what to do in a casino. Do I bring cash? Or am I able to use my OBC or charge it to my sea card? Whats the best way to do it and not incur fees? Is there a best time to play? Do they still allow smoking (I don't) in the casino on Freedom of the Seas? Curious minds... Plus I was reading an old thread where people were sharing their wins and jackpots. But for the most part they didn't share how much they lost. Like they'd say 'I won $1000 on such and such a game.' What they didn't say was they had plopped in $2000 beforehand! lol I'm curious to what wins people have had lately, especially on Freedom since that is where I'm headed in 3 weeks and 3 days! Daghis Posted September 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2013 Yes, you should bring cash. You can get money from your SeaPass account from the casino cashier, but they'll charge you a 5% fee for doing so. I don't think there's a "best" time to play. Just play when you want to have some fun. Yes, smoking is still allowed. There are sections that are non-smoking, but the casino's not really that big, so it's not perfectly smoke-free. It's been a while since I've been on Freedom of the Seas, so I can't really remember my wins that well. I do remember playing a Twin Warriors machine that was doing very well for me at the beginning of the cruise, but it took back much of that money later on during the week. :) I hope you have a great cruise! Freedom of the Seas is a fantastic ship, as you probably already know! :D
cb at sea Posted September 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2013 Cash is what you should gamble with...when it's gone (and that's quite likely), it's gone. You're done. Gambling on a ship is NOTHING like gambling in Vegas, or even, Atlantic City (which isn't like Vegas, either!!!) Wins are rare....the ships have no incentive to entice you to stay in their casino...where else will you go???
Gail_07 Posted October 9, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2013 I have to agree with cb at sea. If you want to give it a go and have a little fun, just bring to the slot machines what you're prepared to lose. If you're lucky and you get a little "hit" - cash it out and pocket it and be happy. My hubby and I find the slots in cruise ship casinos to be tight compared to places like Vegas - so we tend to play a bit for some fun - and after our budget is spent for that nite, we find something else to do
Rocketlady Posted October 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Take cash that you don't expect to come home with. I allow myself so much a day. I love the casinos. And yes I go to Vegas every year and some of the local casinos. Penny machines are not as cheap in the end as you think. I have won $1,200. at once on cruises. And I also have ended up with nothing on cruises. It is just entertainment to me. You don't understand a machine just ask. Most people will explain it to you. Yes, they smoke in the casinos which I really hate. My eyes are burning the whole time. I can't wait till they ban it in there. Same with most casinos in Vegas. In Ohio they banned smoking which makes me very happy. guess what, they are crowded most days so I don't get why the cruises couldn't do the same. riddle Posted October 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 14, 2013 I mainly play video poker so the odds are a bit more in the player's favor than slots. I have gotten 3 royal flushes in 9 or so cruises plus a few other smaller jackpots.
