luvcruisn' Posted September 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2013 I went down to Canada Place this afternoon to watch the ms Amsterdam sail from Vancouver to start the 75 day Grand Asia and Pacific voyage. It was a quick sailaway, left on time, sounded a few toots and away she went. The next stop is Los Angeles, where many more people will be boarding for the 72 day voyage. Some people will be boarding in Hong Kong for a 43 day segment. As I have previously sailed on this ship it was great to watch her leave. I did wish that I could be on board though! startwin Posted September 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2013 I think we are so lucky in Vancouver, being able to get "up close and personal" to the ships docked at Canada Place. I'm often there for a sailaway.
Rare erewhon Posted September 21, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2013 Hope that the passengers on board the Amsterdam have a wonderful voyage. If our flight is on time and we arrive at the hotel promptly we plan to watch the Statendam sail on Sunday afternoon.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 21, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2013 I sure wish I lived near a port to watch the ships arrive and leave.
trophy_23 Posted September 21, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2013 I love being able to catch sail away, even more if it is a HAL ship. Last one I was able to catch, Zuiderdam Sept 14, a foggy Saturday in Vancouver. Usually watch from Ambleside as they pass under the bridge. Weather forecast for Sunday is dismal:( Otherwise I'd be there and I'd look out for you. Heading to Vancouver this afternoon instead, while the weather is still holding.:)
