JetCruister Posted September 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Hello, How does the back-to-back work? Do we need to get off the ship in Fort Lauderdale? And if so do we get to get back on before everybody else?? just want to know what to expect on our back to back coming up. Thanks in advance to all your advice! robtulipe Posted September 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Yes you must go through Customs & Immigration after the first cruise. On the B2B we've done, those doing this have the option of being taken off early as group to do this before the new passenger embarkation started. Your passport or ID (for Americans) was basically just checked by an agent and you got back on the ship. If you decide to disembark to visit the port then you had to go throught the regular disembarkation process.
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2013 You do need to get off and you will be taken off with the others who are also doing a back to back to clear immigration and customs. Once the ship is cleared you will be the first ones allowed back on . Keith
CruzR887 Posted September 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2013 If you do get off in FLL is there a way to return to the ship other than joining the new passengers just joining the cruise? Thanks, Rod
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Rod, you will be able to reboard before the new passengers board. Keith
robtulipe Posted September 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2013 If you do get off in FLL is there a way to return to the ship other than joining the new passengers just joining the cruise? Thanks, Rod Our experience is you'll already have gotten your ship's card onboard for that next cruise so you won't need to do the check in procedure. It is just like returning from a port call but you won't be able to reboard until that process starts for the new passengers. Upon your return you'll simply go directly to the boarding area which may have a separate line for returning passengers. Typically this isn't a problem since by the time you do what you have gotten off for, like doing a tour or going shopping, embarkation will have started. robtulipe Posted September 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Rod, you will be able to reboard before the new passengers board. Keith I recall being told inbetween our B2B cruises that if you want to leave the ship other than doing the quick pass by Immigrations & Customs and immediately reboarding as a group that you won't be able to reboard until that process has started for the new passengers. I agree the group reboard is done before the new passengers start boarding and is very quick since it involves just a scan of your new ship onboard card. Project_gal Posted September 24, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 24, 2013 We will also be doing our first B2B soon with the change day in Fort Lauderdale. If we do decide to go ashore for a while, what will be need with us to get back into the port area? Usually, you have to show your Xpress pass if you are not on a Celebrity transfer but we will not have that. Sue
WestLakeGirl Posted September 24, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 24, 2013 They have procedures for getting you your new pass. It will all be explained on board, both options (going shore for a while vs. immediately back onto the ship)
