Emperor Norton Posted October 23, 2013 Author #151 Share Posted October 23, 2013 I think this is the saddest chocolate fondue I'd ever seen For a few minutes it even looked like the weather was going to cooperate (which means it's time to sail off)
Emperor Norton Posted October 23, 2013 Author #152 Share Posted October 23, 2013 The Bremen was crying to see us go (see the foreward anchor holes {ports?}) It appears the break in the weather is over or at least rapidly ending This was an interesting building, it was either all windows, or no windows depending upon which part you're in Even with the weather people were on deck for sail away. The accursed noise maker was there as well.
Emperor Norton Posted October 23, 2013 Author #153 Share Posted October 23, 2013 While everyone else was looking off the port side I peeked over the starboard and saw this sailboat playing chicken with us Tower of The accursed noisemaker I believe was formerly the magicians rubber squawking chicken (you squeeze it and it makes an annoying noise). It frequently found its way to the Skybar. Eventually a plan was hatched to wrest the chicken from its keepers and remove its squawker. Sadly this plan failed. It's hard to resist a choking the chicken joke
Emperor Norton Posted October 23, 2013 Author #154 Share Posted October 23, 2013 Sadly there was no on deck BBQ this cruise. The last sea day had a market galley lunch which brought out pushy, shoving line-cutting heathens. Even during the lunch they were still keeping things clean
Emperor Norton Posted October 23, 2013 Author #155 Share Posted October 23, 2013 I tossed the picture I had of the pasta (the sauce was an equal ratio of fat to sauce...yuck). The chaffing dishes didn't seem to be heated (food was at best room temp) - perhaps people weren't closing them?
lincslady Posted October 23, 2013 #156 Share Posted October 23, 2013 Baychilla - I thought they ran an excursion to Santiago de Compostela from La Coruna? Certainly if there is one, and for anyone who has not been there it is well worth the longish coach ride (IMO) particularly if there is lunch at the hotel in the square there; a fabulous old building. If you do another galley market lunch photoshoot, do ask if you can go in to take pictures before the horde descends!! By the time a few have got their mitts on the food it starts to look a mess. We once were near the front, and it all looked gorgeous.

Interesting, they give us a term for the merchant seaman equivalent of a mustang officer.
