questions about the Norwegian Sun - southbound in Alaska

I've tried searching the message boards and can't find anything specific. I'm trying to convince a friend to take the Norwegian Sun - southbound from Whittier to Vancouver.

What side of the ship do you recommend for better scenery going South for a cabin? I'm also trying to convince my friend we need a balcony. Also does anyone have daily sheets - my friend is worried he'll be bored. I've been on several other cruises and told him there are activities all day long on cruise ships (in addition to the excursions). Unfortunately I didn't keep any of the sheets from previous cruises just to show him everything that is going on.

Thanks.

Don't think the side of your cabin matters. As for being bored on a cruise ship, maybe cruising isn't for him?

I was on the Sun this year, sorry you are wrong, this itinerary isn't loaded with "activities" on NCL. The casino is full running, there is bingo, art auctions, the spa, some trivia. They do usually have a "lecturer", who in my experience doesn't have experience in Alaska and presents more based on "books", most have an education background. So of no interest to me.

It makes NO difference what side you choose, scenery is on both sides, and you miss the side you aren't on. :)

Depending on when you go, you can NOT count on Tracy Arm. Early season it's a possibility you will divert to Endicott Arm. With Tracy Arm I find it "necessary" to book the ship excursion. GROSSLY superior compared to the cruise ship transit, and my only choice when sailing this area.

I never bother "convincing" anyone. If they don't want to go, I leave them home. :) IF this person has no interest in "Alaska" then this probably isn't the cruise for them.

We did this cruise in early August this year. The Sun is not a Breakaway of Epic non-stop fun ship, but there was certainly lots going on; I can't imagine being bored. We had an aft balcony so saw pretty much everything; nice and peaceful.

I'll post pictures of the dailies later; don't have access at work
