How fast could I disembark with FTTF?

FTTF gets you off the ship first with the Platinum and Diamond folks. We were literally the first people off the ship in Long Beach at about 8:30AM

We always carry our own luggage. Those folks who needed luggage to be brought outside for them left about 15min. after we did.

We just got off the Liberty on Saturday and had FTTF. We were with the Diamond/Platinum members in a room at 6:45, escorted off the ship by 7, through customs and in our car by 7:20. We would have been in the car by 7:10 but the Liberty came back a little farther from the parking garage and we had to haul all our stuff.

Exactly! We were on the liberty in January and I think we were at FLL by 8:30!!! We were so early we couldn't even check our bags!! Every time I self assist I tell myself I wish I would have booked an earlier flight..but then I play the what if game!

We purchased FTTF for our Carnival Ecstasy cruise last week because our flight time got bumped up to 11am on American. Due to weather, the Ecstasy did not get back to Miami until 8 am, was supposed to be back at 6:30. We were one of the first people off at 8:37 and made it thru customs in under 5 minutes. We were in a cab at 8:45 and sitting at our gate in the airport at 9:36. I was sweating it out but in the end we made our 11 am flight with no problem.

You do not need FTTF or platinum or diamond status to self assist. Anyone can get it. The night they start passing out luggage tags and asking you to put your luggage in the hall, just go to the desk and ask for self assist tags. Honestly I don't really think you need the tags, but I would put them on just to be safe. That's it. All you need to do is ask. Just make sure you can handle your luggage. Even down several flights of stairs. We had one cruise where we couldn't catch an elevator for the life of us and just said "forget it", well actually the words may not have been so nice but my husband and I had to carry our luggage all the way down to whatever deck we exited the ship from. Let me tell you that sucks. So, don't count on elevators. Make absolutely sure you can handle your luggage. I love self assist and will always do it that way. I don't like going to look for my luggage in a sea of luggage and usually if you do self assist you are the first few people through customs and the lines are short if there even are lines. SO, yes you can get to the airport very quickly...

A trick to getting a down elevator is to catch an up elevator. Eventually it will go down lol.

Wife and I always do self-assist. The past cruise on the Freedom (Dec 2013) the FTTF folks were with the Diamond/Platinum for self-assist. Prior to that, it was always a free-for-all. Worked much better this time. Customs didn't open until 7:10. We were off the ship soon after that, caught a cab to the Budget near FLL port, and waited for them to open for about 20 minutes... fortunately, they opened early at 7:45 and we were on the road before 8am.

Not bad :)

We ALWAYS do this - I always hit up and down and its so funny the number of people who say no that's going down to an empty elevator - I hop on and go right up - This especially works well when there is large crowds because if people ahead of me are not getting on because its not going in the direction they want I will hop on
