Which flight would you take from FLL?

Don't you just love these questions?

So, my ship arrives at 7 am, midweek (FLL in case you missed the thread title ;)). Neither the Allure or the Oasis will be in port that day. There is an 11:20 flight that gives me a 3 hour layover in CLT, or a 1 pm flight that gives me a 1 1/2 hour layover in CLT (same second leg). Of course the 1 pm flight is safer, but I'd hate to be there in plenty of time for the 11:20, only to watch it go, and sit around and hope there won't be a problem with the next flight. I like to get moving.

How safe is an 11:20 flight? I travel light and carry my own luggage. And, if necessary, I can usually smile my way into the employee security line (with a little help from my ID badge).

Thanks!

I would think the earlier flight is quite possible, for all the things you mention. Of course, the ship could be late getting back to port but that is always a possibility, but not very common.

We have done what you are trying to avoid i.e. booking the later flight but getting to the airport in time to make the earlier flight. When we asked about the possibility of changing to the earlier flight Southwest said we could, but we would have to pay the difference in the cost of flights- what we paid versus what the flight was selling for at that moment. It would have been quite a bit more so we opted to sit for 4 hours in FLL.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

We did/do not self disembark. Were off the ship in the second group and actually at the airport at 8:45. Our flighttwice has been around 11:00. You can see it is very doable. Guess it just depends on where you want to sit and wait.

Thanks for the replies - just what I wanted to hear. I'd rather have a longer layover and feel I'm on my way.

I still expect the usual security ritual. I just meant I've often been allowed on the shorter employee line and get through in minutes, rather than trudge along with the masses ;)
