RumRunner01 Posted November 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2013 I've done a search and came up with the thread below but it doesn't quite answer my question. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1937037&highlight=banned I'm helping a friend set up her bachelorette party for a short weekend cruise next spring. She's been giving everyone information about how to book (they are not quite large enough for a group) and a few people have booked cabins already. However, she had one cabin of two girls book, payment went through and confirmation was issued, but then a few days later the booking was cancelled by Carnival stating that it had been cancelled due to a "Do Not Sail" status. Does anyone know what this means or had experience with it? Is there anything that can be done about it to reinstate the booking? Thank you so much! I think your friend(s) should get on the phone with Carnival and get a definite answer.

JRock59 Posted November 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) Could it be because of their age? If I remember right each cabin must have a person of a certain age in it. (I thought it was over 21 but remember reading some where it was 25) If that's the case just rearrange and put a person of the "needed age" in each cabin. Just found this at carnival.com it's in the cruise contact- (f) Carnival shall refuse boarding to any Guest under the age of twenty-one unless: (1) the Guest is traveling in the same stateroom with an individual twenty-five years or older; (2) traveling in the same stateroom with their spouse; or (3) traveling with a parent or guardian in an accompanying stateroom. Proof of age and/or proof of marriage are required. Carnival shall not be liable to make any refunds or for any damages with respect to any Guest’s failure to provide proper proof of age or marriage or otherwise comply with this provision. RumRunner01 Posted November 4, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted November 4, 2013 Thanks for all the input, everyone. Both passengers are in their 30's. Not sure if one has a warrant out, but I have let my friend know that one or both of the girls just needs to call Carnival and find out what's going on. One girl in the cabin has something very against Carnival, so maybe there is more to the story than I know.

Rare sparks1093 Posted November 5, 2013 #19 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Could one of them have an outstanding warrant? I don't think that is checked until the passenger manifest is given to CBP just prior to the cruise.
hannahsmomtoo Posted November 5, 2013 #20 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Could one of them have an outstanding warrant? I vote no on this one.. Trust me, as a government worker - we would let them sail BECAUSE it would give us a chance to pick them up.

TEXASMUNK Posted November 5, 2013 #23 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Actually observed a Carnival ship returning to home port. Sheriff's office use a bus to "escort" folks after a cruise. Seems they do run your record once the ship departs....and offer you a ride "home" when you get back, not prior to sailing.
hannahsmomtoo Posted November 5, 2013 #24 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Yep - a warrant would never cause a "do not sail" status... They want ALL the people they can to that have warrants to get themselves on that manifest... Serious warrants are picked up before sailing...so as to not endanger other pasengers.... Less serious may be picked up at disembarkation.

Well at least they have a chance for a good vacation before taking an enforced vacation!
