cruisinmeme Posted November 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2013 last year we had a suite on the star. The lady telling us where to go did not have a clip board to check us off (as I have seen before) she directed us to a regular line. Actually it was short so we went, then sent to the lounge where we were walked to cagney's. I just spike to the concierge desk about our needs. She told me we go straight to lounge for check in. So recent suite guest on the jewel, what did you do? I will say new Orleans change their procedure often (if they even have one)
Cubechick Posted November 17, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2013 I had the same experience as you and I too would just go straight to the suite lounge if I sail out of NOLA again. They have your key cards and everything to check you in.
Planmaam Posted November 17, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Really? The suite lounge? If my memory serves me, it isn't very big. Do they have the capability of taking your picture and getting the credit card attached to your room card and all? It'd be great if this were so. Last time after check in, we were not given the chance to stop by where they take the group photos pre-embarkment like they have on other cruises. Do they take these photos for suite passengers still? Curious minds do want to know!

I can confirm that my letter (from pre-cruise concierge) states that I should proceed to the lounge for Haven and Suite guest for check-in. Hopefully someone who has sailed from NO in a suite in the last few weeks can confirm.
Cubechick Posted November 17, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2013 The lounge isn't large, but they have laptops and cameras to check you in. The concierge was very put out that we hadn't been directed to her.
cruisinmeme Posted November 17, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Thanks for this info. I hate to be pushy but most of those people directing you have no clue. I will be better prepared for next Sunday.
NLH Arizona Posted November 17, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 17, 2013 When I check in on 11/3, there was a lady with a clipboard, she walked me over to the suite check in, where I gave them my credit card and had my picture taken. The gentleman there walked me to the room (wouldn't call in a lounge) where the concierge was (there was coffee, etc. there) and John went over a few things and then my butler walked me onboard and to Cagney's. Planmaam Posted November 17, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Thanks to both of you, I appreciate the heads up. Were you able to have the standard "welcome aboard" picture taken of your party?
Love my butler Posted November 17, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 17, 2013 You check-in in a special suite line. They take your picture and credit card information. Issue you your keys cards. When all of that is completed you are escorted to a room that seats about 35 people. It is in the back left as you walk into the check-in area. Once in the suite lounge you can enjoy drinks and snacks. The concierge has a desk at the front of the room and he will give you a brief description of his duties and your butler's duties Once the ship is boarding, you will be escorted onboard to Cagney's with a quick stop to take a welcome aboard photo. Da-Painter Posted November 17, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 17, 2013 We were just there, after going through the initial line, where you go through the security scanners, you will turn left, heading for the line, and the suite check in is down at the far right end of the counter. From there they take you to your lounge, then to the ship. After doing the stuffs at the counter, you can get your picture taken before going into the lounge if you wish. Enjoy, John did a great job. :)
medicalma'am Posted November 17, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 17, 2013 This is great news - something new for the suite passengers. Love it!
rvsullivan Posted November 17, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Nothing new in what I've just read? For a few years now, you go through security with everyone, then to the suite check in for credit card and pictures and are then escorted to the suite waiting area/concierge area. No boarding pictures for suite guest as you go in through a private entry way.
kchiumento Posted November 17, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) There were Welcome Aboard pics available when we cruised 10/13 out of NOLA. We checked in at the "suite passenger" line (think of a separate line like in the airport for first class or "airline mile passengers"). Then we were asked to take a Bon Voyage pic, then taken to the Suite waiting area. We were escorted onto the ship immediately and taken to Cagneys. Easy peasy. toyotaford Posted November 17, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 17, 2013 I have sailed out of NO on the Jewel twice in the last month. We went through security with everyone else then went to the suite line. There were a couple of people ahead of us each time but they were sent to check in as soon as a spot was available. It was a very short wait. We were then escorted to the lounge area and immediately brought on board.

This is what we did last November, but the lady on the phone told me we were to actually check in in the lounge. I know with carnival we have been checking in at the lounge.
