phabric Posted November 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Planning a cruise to Alaska in August on the Crown. I choose a BD aft category- C709 for the large balcony, near the elevators. Under the Princess 3 for Free Sale, I can get an upgrade from a BF forward to a BB mid-forward on either Aloha or Baja. Should I take the upgrade or stay in the BD? caribill Posted November 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Keep the bigget balcony and be sure to have the booking marked "will not accept upgrade."

I always prefer Baja and to be more foreward. But I wouldn't trade a Caribe balcony for it. Stay where you are.

In general, I would stay with the Caribe deck balcony which is bigger, and the lounge chair and footstools are more comfortable. Having said that, I note your cruise is in August, when the weather can start turning cold and rainy. On our Alaska cruise we were on the Aloha deck with an overhang from the Lido deck (like the Riviera deck on Crown). When it rained going through Glacier bay we were able to enjoy being on our balcony while all those on open balconies had to retreat to shelter. Who knows what the weather will be like on your cruise? That might be a consideration for your choice... if only you knew for sure.
