innlady1 Posted November 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2013 The Ryndam is a lovely ship, and what's not to love about an Eastern Med cruise??? I say, go for it!
OlsSalt Posted November 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2013 We had an incredibly good trip on the Ryndam leaving from Barcelona and traversing the Mediterranean. Expect more Spanish passengers on these HAL routes and dual language offerings if your trip leaves from Barcelona - one of Europe's great cities and favorite ports for docking if you get the one close in. Ryndam is a smaller older ship so not sure what comparisons you want. Best thing about smaller ships is they can get into the older docking spots still which are often more convenient for on and off. Please do tell us about your expected itinerary and hope it includes Valetta, Malta - our all time favorite Mediterranean port.
RJ2002 Posted November 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2013 We have sailed on the Ryndam. As mentioned, it is an older, smaller ship. However, it is well maintained and beautifully appointed. We enjoyed our Rydnam cruise very much.

sail7seas Posted November 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 24, 2013 We sailed Greek Islands on Ryndam's older sister, Maasdam, and had a fabulous cruise. :)

What else is there to say? Best thing about smaller ships is they can get into the older docking spots still which are often more convenient for on and off. But not always. In Barcelona on the Prinsendam we were not at the World Trade Center, but there was a free shuttle over to there. Just because they can get into the older docks does not mean automatically they will get in. We were on the same Prinsendam - can't remember who got the good seats that day because sadly we did not, tiny as we were. I think there were four or five others ships in port Sept 16, 2013. IIRC neither of them got the WTC either.
