Baded Posted November 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2013 I really want to go on a Carnival cruise again, I live 10 miles from PC, but they won't or can't credit me with my past 5 or 6 cruises! Really disappointing. Anyone else have problems like that?:confused::(:(
kcwingwalker Posted November 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Sorry for your problems. Perhaps if you keep trying you'll finally get the right person who can solve your problem. But if it was me and I really wanted to go then I would just put the problem aside and book a cruise. You are so lucky to live so close to a port. :)

Anyone else have problems like that?:confused::(:( Wouldn't stop me from cruising, might make me take 5 or 6 more to make up the difference but certainly wouldn't stop me from cruising Carnival again. When are they going to dredge the port to put the bigger RCCL ship in Port Canaveral?
Colorado Kat Posted November 25, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Do you have your old S&S cards? That would prove you were on the ships.

Baded Posted November 25, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted November 25, 2013 My 1st cruise was way back in or around 1989 and my last one was 2009. They said cruises that old don't count in the new credit system they are using now. I have a bunch of photos and other items from cruises, but not cards or other proof. The funny thing is when the had the old reward system they had all my trips counted for, they just won't count them now. I've called and e-mailed and the best I can get us "they will get to me". seannyice81 Posted November 25, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) The photos should work if you have a date/date stamp with the ship (including its name) in the photo. Edited November 25, 2013 by seannyice81
misguidedangel Posted November 25, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 25, 2013 I was able to get credit for my 1991 cruise. I still had ALL of the info from the cruise including the booking number. A cruise in 2009 should be in their system. Don't sweat it if they won't credit you. If you need a vacation, go on the cruise!

I suggest posting in the Carnival funville forum. Mary or Mischelle from Carnival will probably step in and look into it for you. Worked for me for an issue I had before. Good luck! xplor97 Posted November 25, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 25, 2013 The furthest I had one credited back to was 1985...I was 11...but still had the boarding photo which showed the date and ship...worked like a charm.
golfadj Posted November 25, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 25, 2013 It was strange how they did it though. We had two and sent them a picture we took of the sensation with neither of us in the picture and a picture of me with a dancer and pirate on ecstasy. They credited us for the picture of the Sensation but wouldnt give us credit for ecstasy one. The one got us to platinum so we just settled for the one. redpelican Posted November 25, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 25, 2013 I think they are talking about the VIFP program. unless they have 10 by the end of the year, there are no reward so to speak. Why else would they be upset and not book again. If I wanted to cruise again, it would not make a difference!:D
gusandgidgetsmom Posted November 25, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 25, 2013 If you have proof you just send it in to Carnival. I did this for a cruise in the 80's and it was very easy. Anything after 1990 should be in their system. Sounds like there is some confusion here.

Don't get this. My first 4 cruises occurred between 2001 and 2009. They are all counted under my VIFP # as is DHs. You need to write a "strongly worded letter" to the CEO.;) Don't let it stop you from cruising though. If not Carnival, there's Disney and RCI out of Canaveral. Book something!!:) And good luck getting that past cruise credit resolved.

Have you tried using the "Claim a Past Cruise" button on Carnival's website? Once you sign in, click on "manage" and then "VIFP." At the bottom of that page is a button that you click on to request credit for any cruises you are missing. Good luck. Hope you get it worked out. Cruisin 4 Ever Posted November 25, 2013 #22 Share Posted November 25, 2013 I think it's interesting that people say they don't think it should affect whether you cruise or not to not be credited for all those cruises. It is a marketing technique that is supposed to keep people coming back to Carnival so why wouldn't it deter someone from Carnival when the opposite is true. Interesting most of the posters are the ones always talking about being diamond. I"m quite sure if it were them, they would have an issue.

Credit for past cruises has an impact on several things. Could be difference in Gold vs. Platinum, as golfadj posted, or simply between Red and Gold, and being able to attend the Past guest party. OP, keep trying and good luck. Edited November 25, 2013 by Georgiagolfer spelling
redpelican Posted November 26, 2013 #24 Share Posted November 26, 2013 One of the only wonderful things about being Platinum is the first on first off. We did not even go to the past guest party…they never change. And the gift this year kind of sucked…I am glad they are changing it. The op never did say how many cruises they had or why they would not book. We just love to cruise….
cruise_control Posted November 26, 2013 #25 Share Posted November 26, 2013 My daughter had this problem when Carnival switched to the VIFP program. It took about three phone calls, but it got worked out. Be persistent, 10-14 days may only make the difference between red and gold right now, but it adds up in the end. Good luck!
