frani Posted November 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2013 We want to go on a cruise 3/9-3/16 & was wondering how cold it is leaving baltimore & for how many days. Looks like your 2 days at sea before you get to Port Canaveral.

Looks like your 2 days at sea before you get to Port Canaveral. Frani, I've cruised out of Baltimore in Feb and September. Weather in March could be 40 degrees or 70 degrees. It takes a good full day to get nice weather. Maybe you should try sailing on the Splendor. It has the retractable pool roof. However, Baltimore is a great port to spend an extra day or two in! Awesome seafood in Inner Harbour. Lots to see and do. Cheers! HTP
iamsteph Posted November 25, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2013 I've cruise out of Baltimore in March. It was chilly all the sea days.

agc291 Posted November 25, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Like others have said it is hit or miss... Sea Day there and last sea day back will be chilly for sure. If it is important I would book out of florida. It looks like we are in for a cold winter in these parts!!!
golfadj Posted November 25, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Would not expect swimming wear first and last day.
ready2cruzagain Posted November 25, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Definitely not hang out by the pool weather. March can be pretty chilly, usually the average high temperature in March is around 50 degrees and low is in the 30's. Whenever we have sailed from Baltimore usually the first 2 and the last 2 days are quite chilly in the winter.

4merlurker Posted November 25, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) We want to go on a cruise 3/9-3/16 & was wondering how cold it is leaving baltimore & for how many days. Looks like your 2 days at sea before you get to Port Canaveral. We cruised out of Baltimore March 18th last year (Splendor). Sailaway is COLD! Sea day #1 Windy and cold. By sea day #2 it warmed up in the afternoon but it was still windy. - The covered pool area on the Splendor was divine, we spent a lot of time in there. The temp was just right. Day 3 was Florida and it was in the upper 70's but cloudy. The bahamas was +- 80. The sail back days were in reverse LOL and we came home with a snow covered pool deck (great pic opp) ;) The weather was never "HOT TROPICS" but it was better than what we left at home!!! HardToPort Posted November 25, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 25, 2013 The Pride has a sliding dome over one of its pools also... Thanks for the Info BigDog! I've been on Pride twice out of Baltimore and never noticed!! When I'm cruising my powers of observation take a hiatus as well, it seems! Safe travels!! frani Posted December 2, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Thanks for all the good input. We probably will wait & go in August where we know it will be good weather. Although the prices are sky high! Maybe it's just too soon to book.

golfadj Posted December 2, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Figure cold first and last day at sea. Could be different could be a foot of snow on the ship.
Homosassa Posted December 2, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 2, 2013 March is a changeable month for weather in Central Maryland. The first two - three weeks are nasty, cold winter weather and then straight up to 70+ for the last week.
ch27088 Posted December 2, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 2, 2013 We want to go on a cruise 3/9-3/16 & was wondering how cold it is leaving baltimore & for how many days. Looks like your 2 days at sea before you get to Port Canaveral. March is really a very iffy month on the East Coast. As someone mentioned, it can be 48 degrees or even 70 degrees. Be prepared by checking the weather on weather.com or your local News station. If you are driving and leaving your car at the port, you can always bring a heavy jacket and leave it in the car (if it's really cold that day), or you can dress in layers until you get on the ship. The great thing to remember is that you wont be in cold weather very long. As soon as you sail away, remember that you will be in warm weather shortly! Hae a wonderful cruise!
