ukdeblarz Posted December 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Hi All I tried looking in the Florida Departure thread for info, but I couldn't find exactly what I need help with. We are driving to Port Everglades for Dec 23 Noordam. We have sailed out of FLL a few times, but this is our first time driving. Question - What terminal does Noordam usually leave from? Looks like there are 3 other ships in port on those days. What is parking like at the port itself? Do we need to prebook? It looks like it is $15 per day. Do we drop off luggage and pay a porter then go park? Do we walk from the parking back to terminal or take a shuttle? How is the shuttle? We hope to be one of first off (we are in Neptune Suite) on return day as we have to get on the road for a long drive home. How is it getting back to car at end of cruise? So what is the deal with the Park and Go/Fly option that HAL pushes through a link when you do docs? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks HAL normally go from Terminal 26 or if not there one of the piers in the Mid Port section. Parking at the Mid Port garage which is adjacent to the terminal, is $15 a day see the port website at: http://www.porteverglades.net/cruising/parking/. Other cheaper options are available including Park'N'Go and also some hotels have parking deals for the duration of your cruise if you stay one night which might be an idea if driving a long way. Krazy Kruizers Posted December 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Some of us noticed lately that many of the HAL ships having using Pier 21 this year for the most part. If you park at the pier garages, it is best to drop off your luggage first and then park the car. As for hotels, that close to Christmas you will be lucky to find a decent price hotel that will allow you to leave your car there for free. Also check to see if your insurance will cover your car when leaving it in an area that is not always patrolled.
ukdeblarz Posted December 1, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Thanks for the info so far. We don't need a hotel as my parents live in Central Florida and we will stay with them before but not after. Keep any more info coming please. peaches from georgia Posted December 1, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 1, 2013 We always park at the Mid-Port parking garage. Highly recommend it. Drop off your luggage at your ship's terminal (they will tell you the # when you go thru port security and every ship is also listed on a big sign) and if you have a spouse or companion traveling with you that person can check in the luggage and wait for you there to come back. You can drive right into the garage and park. There is an elevated crossover to walk across back to the terminal. It's very quick and convenient. On your return your companion can wait in front of the terminal with your luggage for you to drive around and pick him/her and the luggage up. If you are alone with only a bag or 2 you can just walk across to the parking deck both ways. We have even had a porter, for an extra tip, go with us to the car taking our luggage on a cart. You will be on the Interstate and on your way in no time at all. No advanced reservations needed.
gentlemancruiser Posted December 1, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2013 I'm just guessing but the Noordam will be probably leaving from terminal 26 or 21 or 19. Independence of the Seas will leave from terminal 18(RCCL's terminal). The Pacific Princess will probably be Terminal 2. Silver Spirit from either Terminal 21 or 25 But it is just a guess. Mid port parking garage will be best. Check the port master's schedule 7 days in advance. However on Sunday December 22nd there are 8 ships leaving port everglades so parking might be difficult. peaches from georgia Posted December 1, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2013 I don't know how often if ever the North and Mid Port parking garages and lots may get full, but we were there in December one year when there were 14 ships in that day and had no trouble getting in the garage. We like not only the convenience but the security which is very tight at Port Everglades. Everyone coming into the port is checked and there are not people just wondering around with no legitimate reason to be there.
take us away Posted December 6, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 6, 2013 wherever you decide to park - call for a reservation! Have had holiday cruise mates who had to park at the airport and pay their horrible rates as no cruise terminal parking was available. Now with the mega-ships it is probably even worse. We tend to take longer cruises and renting a car both ways is cheaper for us plus much less of a hassle. Most terminal parking lots will shuttle bus you to your ship if you decide to park off the port grounds like Park N Go (have used then with excellent service). sunsetbeachgal Posted December 6, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 6, 2013 We recently used park N Go and had an excellent experience. They take advance reservations and if you prepay in advance you get a very nice discount.
catl331 Posted December 8, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 8, 2013 Check https://pevweb01.broward.org/Public/PublicMovements.aspx about a week before you go to find out what pier you will depart from. Most likely it will be 26. You may return to a different pier than you departed from, but the mid-port garage is near all the ones HAL normally uses. We also like Park'n'Go for cruises of more than 7 days. They're about half the price of the garage with a pre-paid reservation. We have never had to wait long for a shuttle van at disembarkation when we've used them.
